One step forward, one step back. The apes have been reduced to chained slave pets in this one and a rebellion is imminent. On one hand that plot feels fresh enough for a new installment, not just some rehash of the first like the previous two movies were. On the other hand we're back to the "omg they can talk" storyline + a few other similar elements which is a step back. I relatively enjoyed the first two acts but it feels like something was missing. The rebellion aspect is barely touched upon in the first two acts which is a shame. Caesar isn't fleshed out enough as a character, for a while I thought he was Cornelius. The third act was the best part, some pretty cool action moments and visuals. Good score especially in the opening sequence and third act. The speech at the end felt like a stage play but I like where this is going for the next one.

Conquest of the Planet of the Ape plays a little fast and loose with the series continuity, but still manages to deliver an exciting and action-packed adventure. Set in a dystopian future, an ape revolution gives rise to the Planet of the Apes. The script is pretty strong and challenges its audience with questions of predestination and social inequity. Roddy McDowall and Ricardo Montalban return and give great performances once again. For a forth film in a series, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes is remarkably fresh, and as provocative and thrilling as ever.

The continuous references to slavery and how to get free, a spectacular development and 30 spectacular final minutes make this film a must. It is totally required to see the uncensored version with the real ending, not the sweetened end

This is the fourth film of the "Planet of the Apes" series and even though there have been quite a few moments when I have seriously questioned the choices made by the writers, I have been pleased with the acting and the direction. In fact, it has become entertaining just sitting back and wondering More

'Conquest of the Planet of the Apes' is the weakest of the first four films. It's watchable, still.

It shares similarities to 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' from the rebooted 2010s series, though it isn't quite as entertaining or convincing. Serviceable it is, however. Roddy M More

Last year, "Cornelius" and "Zira" were back in the 1970s. Now we scoot forward a few millennia and find that the Simian flu has robbed humankind of it's pets. Always in need of something to feed, comb and to take for walks, we have decided to domesticate chimps. The thing is, though, that this plan More

The Extended version of this installment is the only one to watch, it's bloody and brutal.
This is much better than the piss-poor installment
Beneath the planet
of the Apes which is the weakest one of the hole series.
This one picks up some 20yrs after Escape and is literally playing out t More
