La lettura americana è una mezza merda, parliamoci chiaro. E il film, nel suo essere estenuante, estremamente forzato con dialoghi patetici, eterei, al limiti dell'insulso, non aiutano a farmela apprezzare. La limousine è una nave alla deriva, Ulisse è Pattison che incontra figure impenetrabili. I loro monologhi interminabili sono oracoli da interpretare. Una Odissea verso la follia. Le speculazioni finanziarie che spostano gli equilibri della società, la violenza che imperversa e avvicina la decadenza del mondo occidentale, la parallela velocità con la quale la tecnologia si evolve, pervasiva e irruenta. Cose che ci dovrebbero portare a ragionare. Il film è una palla allucinante. Ma è figo. Amo contraddirmi.

This movie reminds me of the feeling I had after watching Knight of Cups (2015). I’d say deeply unsatisfied with a vague awareness that the movie is supposed to be insightful; I barely grasped like half of the dialogue and what I did understand felt pretentious and too distant for me to actually care!

Cronenbergs pet movie. Clearly complete creative freedom exercised by him. And why not after the last couple of blockbusters. Will polarise opinion.

I really enjoyed this Cronenberg film. Though my favourite films of his
are the incredible ones he did in my teens, during the 80's
('Videodrome', 'The Dead Zone' and 'The Fly' are nothing short of
outstanding, and works that no one else could have come up with), he's
really been thinking outsid More
