I truly have to find a way to watch Creature from the Black Lagoon in 3D.

Anyway this was the first time rewatching the last true Universal Monster movie and it is still a blast. The fire stunt, the underwater scenes, the swimming, Julie Adams, Gill-man's theme song and the suit the used for the "creature". The suits truly looks amazing. So ahead of its time.

The story is cliché filled but what do you expect? The setting is great, the monster is classic, it is a slasher movie and it is just 80 minutes of pure fun. One of the best Universal Monster movies!

I don’t watch much of old films so I don’t have a lot to compare to but imagine the creature costume was pretty great for it’s time. It’s impressive to imagine somebody having to swim around in that suit and doing it well but someone did it.

I love the Universal Monsters and the "Gillman" is no exception. The look of the Creature is awesome. I really like the way it gasps like a fish when it is on dry land.

The underwater photography is pretty amazing for the 50s and the transfer of the film to the Blu-Ray format makes it look fantastic.

Unfortunately, the movie is pretty standard 1950's stuff. To be fair, it was one of the first and likely the inspiration for many of the other derivative Sci-Fi/Horror movies it spawned. Actually that makes it harder to defend what are some pretty boring characters and repetitious adventure scenes.

"Creature From the Black Lagoon" is good, but it's not close to equaling amazing Universal output like "Bride of Frankenstein", "The Invisible Man" or "Frankenstein".

'Creature from the Black Lagoon' is an entertaining flick from 1954.

For a film made so long ago, it really does age nicely. Sure some of the ways used to bring the creature to life look a little dorky in patches, but for the most part I felt the required creepiness - especially via the creature's face. It has the feel of a very well made production, which is little surprise given it's a Universal production of course. I also like how it has a sense of knowledge to it, who knows if it all adds up but it sounds the part at least.

I enjoyed the cast, they all work well together onscreen. Richard Carlson, Julie Adams and Richard Denning are naturally the standouts, though I also found Nestor Paiva to be decent. Interesting to note that two people played the Gillman, with Ben Chapman on land and Ricou Browning underwater.

The start of a trilogy, I'm keen to check out the two sequels.

It's only 80 minutes long but it goes on for too long. The creature is like Jason from Friday the 13th. It just keep coming back.

Creature from the Black Lagoon is a fairly straight-forward horror film, but even sixty-five years later, it still works.

The movie plays on the fear of the unknown creature. Deep in the Amazon Rainforest, there might be some kind of ancient, half-fish-half-man horror that sets out to kill all humans who come into its territory. Maybe it even wants to steal away the women to continue living. That's a scary thought, in and of itself.

When you add that to the movie's best quality, the score, it makes for some truly chilling, truly tense scenes. The whole film is well done, especially for 1954. The set design is fully believable, and the acting is solid all around. Julie Adams specifically does a great job. Even gill-man's costume was relatively well done, especially for the time.

A enjoyable monster film by Universal. I thought the film was really well-made, especially for the time it came out. The music is great and really makes this film better. I would definitely recommend this film.

I unfortunately haven't enjoyed it as much as I thought I would. It was nice to finally have a look on the gill-man and for this, it didn't bothered me to watch it. The soundtrack, scenarios (specially the underwater shots, which contain a nice struggle between Mark and the monster on the final minutes) and the monster characterization are nice when you think those were the 50s!

It's just that once the build-up is done, the action ain't that great and the sexual innuendo doesn't sell nothing more than a way for the story to be terminated... so much for the studies.

Simple story, good underwater photography, good acting, very well paced with good music to follow the terrifying atmosphere created by the monster.
The design of the monster is fantastic, taking in consideration that this film was made in the 50's.
Iconic film. Very enjoyable!

I hate the overused soundtrack but other than that it was an unintentionally funny classic movie

After finding a webbed claw from a wall of limestone, an archaeologist, a marine life specialist, and the other institute doctors team up to fund a more thorough investigation. Over the next eight days, their team dig up the limestone but find nothing. They continue the search to a lagoon at the end of the river hoping to find more fossils but their arrival isn't welcomed by a dangerous, humanlike amphibian living there. This is another solid entry of 'human is the real monster' film and it's got surpsrisingly quite a lot of monster actions. Technically, this is a very difficult film to make. The actor in the suit is one incredible swimmer! The underwater shots are amazing and it's made not easy to see to give it claustrophobic danger feel to it. It's amazing how they're able to achieve that. The score really helps as well creating the tension. The creature suit design still looks incredible and the growl it makes is so chilling. Unfortunately, when it's not underwater, this film loses me. I guess I'm just not interested in the love triangle parts. It’s a classic though so i’ll still give it some loving.
