Mark Duplass was really good as a weird man that hires another guy to follow him around and film him all day. This was a strange movie. It manages to be funny and scary but really frustrating, too. It's a found footage flick, but keeps the format fresh by surprising you with different perspectives from time to time. There are a few twists and turns that I didn't expect, and I didn't really know what the characters were going to do from one moment to the next.

But above everything else, I think "Creep" contains a few perfect examples of the difference in what is truly scary and what is only a shock. In other words, there are several moments of true terror combined with very silly and self-knowing jump scares. In fact, I think the director was actually making fun of how stupid jump scares are. There are a number of times the main character jumps out from behind a door, out of the bushes, etc. There is nothing scary about these moments, it only makes you jump. I am so sick of people thinking that this translates to scary. It's no different than if someone taps you on the shoulder from behind when you aren't expecting it. This is typically what stupid teenage moviegoers think is scary.

But there are a few very cool scares here. I won't spoil them but one features a mask and the other a window. You'll know them when you see them.

By the way, there is no gore in this movie. I can't remember ever seeing any blood at all. So if you are someone who doesn't watch Horror because of the potential for blood and guts, that won't be an issue if you watch "Creep".
