Jake is a news editor for a local TV station who always fantasizes about becoming a reporter. On Halloween night, he's putting together the reporter's clips but he hasn't received the important package yet, a footage of an important political figure assassinated by the police. While editing, he receives two files, one's intended for him while the other one is confidential information he’s not supposed to get. He uses it to uncover the truth and sees it as a ticket to finally become a reporter. Christian Nilsson's Dashcam is far better than I expected. This micro-budget COVID project turns out to be a very compelling political thriller. I wouldn't say a whole lot is new here but what's done is executed extremely well. This film has some good suspense throughout and it really knows how to switch things up to make it more engaging. The COVID feel definitely adds an aspect of realness to the film. It’s technically well made for what it is. I really like the set-up and the lead does a very great job.

Well, it looks like I've been tricked and it looks like I'm not the only one.

You see, there are two movies called Dashcam that came recently back to back, one is found footage, while the other one isn't and mostly takes place in one room. I wanted to watch the found footage one but accidentally watched this one.

The movie follows a news editor, who is sent a secret dashcam video evidence showing a shocking discovery of a cover-up involving high-ranking government officials. After that, you get an idea of where this is heading and there are no real surprises here. I nearly fell asleep at one point.
