You know I watched this movie and even though nothing much happens, I was so invested in the characters and their personalities, I didn't care at all. This is just a snapshot of a particularly fun night in the lives of a group of drunk and stoned, but generally good hearted, mid-70's youngsters.

I guess I can buy the way critics hail this as some kind of coming-of-age story, but it all seems like posturing to make it seem like they've interpreted it in some deeper fashion than I did. It looked a lot to me like a documenting of one night out in the suburbs.

The characters are all appealing in their own way, but I enjoyed Matthew McConaughey's "Wooderson" more than the others. Very funny.

This is a good movie but it's significance seems overstated. It really wasn't even "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" deep.

It feels a bit like Fast Times and I didn't like that either. I was worried this movie would be bland stereotypes in boring environment and it was. Relies on the fact Stoners will watch it and rate it high because its about weed and they like weed.. duh ..... awful

How can anyone not have a great time watching this? Memorable characters, perfectly cast, cool costumes, amazing music, lots of funny quotes...
No plot? No character development (not entirely accurate)? How much can a teenager change in 24 hours? Ffs...

What’s crazy is this movie feels like American Pie for a different generation, but only came out six years apart. It’s definitely enjoyable and easy to see why so many people love this one. I, on the other hand, am not the target audience and I find it just “alright, alright, alright”.

Rating: 3.5/5 - 8/10 - Would Recommend

While it certainly captures the nostalgia of the 1970s and has its fair share of humorous moments, I couldn't help but find it lacking in terms of a compelling plot and overall engagement. The lack of a central plot left me somewhat disconnected, as I found myself waiting for something more substantial to happen. On the positive side, the witty dialogue and eccentric characters create a sense of camaraderie and provide some funny moments. However, the film also tends to drift, and this, combined with the lack of a clear plot, left me feeling like it was dragging at times. For me, it was an okay movie with some enjoyable elements, but it ultimately left me wanting more in terms of a compelling story and character development.

I enjoyed it, but it’s loose to a fault. It’s one of those films where you could rearrange a lot of it and it wouldn’t make a difference, which is the type of issue a great hangout movie usually avoids. There are way too many characters, only a few of which are interesting. Linklater also goes way overboard with the amount of needle drops, some of which are too on the nose. Still, I loved the authentic portrayal of 70s teenagers, filmmaking, acting and most of all the very distinct voice that can be found in the dialogue. It’s quotable and somewhat memorable but it could’ve been a lot better with a stronger structure. I was reminded a lot of _Licorice Pizza_ when watching this, which is another episodic coming of age film set in the 70s, yet I think that film works so much better because you have that central relationship which always remains the focus.

5.5/10

Nothing makes me wish I was 16 again like Dazed and Confused. It perfectly portays the magic of being young and stupid. It's the prefect high school hangout movie.

Couldn't make it through the rampant misogyny and paddling fixation. Watch Freaks and Geeks instead for the same nostalgia and less cringe

If you were young in the 70’s or 80’s you’ll get the movie. Cool sound track and lots of today’s stars when they were young (Matthew Mcconaughey can be seen pre hair plugs) it’s one of best high school movies. Not Super Bad good but it’s realistic.

A good movie but not necessarily a classic this movie probably gets way more attention than it deserves considering there are so many movies that have done the same thing but better. Not necessarily a must watch but it's "alright alright alright."

My review only covers the first 20 minutes of the movies as that is about all I could stomach.  In some ways it seems like Linklater re-made this film as an adult when he created the far superior Everybody Wants Some.  Like "Dazed" that film did not necessarily have a point but it was a far more realistic (and interesting) snapshot of youth.  The main problem I had with this film was that none of it was believable.  Nobody ever talked like that in high school or acted liked that in high school.  Nobody.   At times if felt like a sequel to Meatballs instead of a Linklater film.  You can be not believable but tell an amazing story but you can't be not believable and also not have a story to tell.

Watched as a double-bill with American Graffiti (with which comparisons are frequently drawn. The two films are tonally comparable, with similar "slice-of-life; one-night; educational-transition" settings) Dazed & Confused edges above in terms of the overall story. The music is well chosen & embedded in the scenes without the feeling of a tacked on greatest hits type soundtrack mélange. Some great early performances by actors who blossomed in the ensuing years makes this a treat of a movie!

Movie 1 in my Ben Affleck binge-watch. One of his early roles, in a large ensemble cast of actors that would grow up to be stars. Besides Affleck we have Matthew McConaughey, Milla Jovovich, Anthony Rapp, Adam Goldberg, Cole Hauser of the names I recognize because I’ve seen their later work before. It’s a great cult film because it accurately portrays the 70s and high school life, with an excellent soundtrack to boot.

D&C attempts to be the Boomer version of American Graffiti and fails miserably. It's almost the exact storyline: last day of school, seniors moving on...however besides a kick-ass soundtrack and some pretty sweet rides, there is no comparison of quality. The brutal hazing that goes on for the incoming class is unbelievable and besides the "Party On" message, there really isn't much to offer. The majority of the cast are forgettables who never did anything of interest, the story weaves back and forth like a drunk driver without any real direction and the character development is just below Cheech and Chong. Matthew McConaughey is the only redeeming factor, and his "Alright, alright, alright" is the only notable quotable. Don't be mislead by the hype. There really isn't much to see here. At least with Fast Times at Ridgemont High you get to see some boobies...here, the sexist thing you see is Wooderson's GTO.
