This is a fun one. It's especially fun for me seeing Mendocino (the primary filming location) as it looked in '81. Cool piece of history. That said, despite the decent cast, the acting is pretty mediocre. Which also matches the story. BUT, it still manages to be entertaining. Enough so that I've watched it multiple times. They use a cool filming mechanism (I'm sure it has a name) during the attack sequences. I kept pausing to check out all the details. Fun watch, especially if you're familiar with Mendo.

Feels like this should have remained Dead and Buried in the 1980s. I can see how it would have been a shocker in it's time, but the world has moved on, and the themes explored have been done a thousand times since then

You can see the twist coming a mile away and that's alright. But how this movie manages to slip under the radar of HP Lovecraft fans is a mystery to me.

"Tales from the Crypt" (meets The Stepford Wives) like story that has plenty of entertainment value even though it's more on the creepy spectrum than scary. Jack Albertson as the mortician was a lot of fun and James Farentino had his moments. **3.75/5**
