Pre-packaged and uninspired but well made, like a decent TV dinner, but the really expensive kind. This based-on-a-true-story story of the creation of the first restaurant in the world seems more like a reenactment of a Wikipedia article designed to make the viewer go, "Oh, that's where desserts came from! Oh, that's where the idea for terraces came from! Oh, that's where French fries came from!" Sadly, despite the duo of strong actors, the antagonist who's absence is noticeable and the weak ending make the whole thing like British food: traditional, mundane, and a little bland.

The story of this fake character who started the first restaurant just a few days before the French Revolution celebrates above all culinary art, the hallmark of an entire country. There is a remarkable visual conception, a staging that uses food as a decorative element and colors as emotional contrasts. There is also a somewhat lazy script in the development of the characters, but the end result is "délicieux".
