A good idea turn into a mediocre legal drama aware of pleasing a transatlantic audience. A case of subject matter dominating. Rachel has a terrible accent. Spall gives a good performance in what feels like a character assasination.

Character assassination? David Irving would later be tried by an Austrian court and sentenced to 3 years in prison for his crimes of racist rhetoric associated with his Holocaust denials used for personal gain. Freedom of speech doesn't mean you can be a liar at other people's expense.

An excellent film about a vitally important subject which is especially relevant in this time of "post-truth" and "fake news".

The film was as well made as it was important in these days of Donald Trump and Marine Le Pen. While I think the movie ironically took some liberties with the true history, the message came through loud and clear, and without beating anyone over the head.

Ok, so Deborah was annoying throughout the movie but otherwise was good. Solid acting and the topic was perfect.

Fantastic, sobering, well crafted and executed account of a true event. The acting was fantastic, the issues were riveting and the story needed to be told. In a world that believes that truth is relative, it is important to be reminded that such a position is harmful to society and dangerous to the future of mankind. If we are willing to rewrite history to distort it for our own purposes we will be forced to relive our mistakes. Everyone should see this movie. I give it a 9.5 (superb and valuable) out of 10.

Really good movie that lives from the acting and a serious story line. A rarity these days.

As we have seen a surge in racist rhetoric globally ignited in large part to the USA''s 45th toxic orange President, this movie not only is a glimmer of hope that facts and truth prevail over falsehoods and lies dressed up in "opinions". But is almost a cautionary tale to the fools that behave this way.

David Irving would eventually be brought up on charges for his lies and racism in his books in an Austrian court where laws have no tolerance for that behavior. He would be found guilty and ordered to three years in prison.

Intelligent to try to discredit something sowing doubts, and so say that you are not a denier but an observer, although it is smarter to wind up a liar to be hanged with their lies and half-truths

There was no Holocaust

Lies lies lies lies lies.

While the film may take liberties with the telling of the court case (apparently), it does not disguise the fact that David Irving is a Nazi sympathiser and racist individual. I enjoyed the film and found it compelling; the exact opposite to my feelings towards Irving and his vile point of view.

In all honesty, this film may have painted a more lighthearted or rosier picture of the actual trial, with Mr. Irving being portrayed a bit more cartoonish than his real self in regards to denying the Holocaust. However, I still found this to be an endearing film that touched on an important topic with grace and substance. It had human emotions, concise direction, and a wonderful cast of actors/actresses that made this an engaging work of art. It also had a fitting ending, so that's a plus too.
