The film loses its way a little towards the end, tho the payoff was sweet. Half of a good film - with more focus, it could have been much better

I am a native of Western New York so I thought that I would give this movie a chance because it was filmed right in my back yard. I was a little skeptical at first as the movie started and there was this ridiculous and unnecessary foreboding music playing behind some dramatic and semi-dramatic events. This passed after about 20 minutes and the film really seemed to find itself. I watch a TON of indie movies and it isn't uncommon for the script, acting or sound to be questionable. Thankfully all were in good order in this film. As the film neared the end it really kicked into another level before finishing with an excellent and unexpected scene that really turned the whole movie on its head and left me thinking about it the next day.

a fun watch, definitely a quirky thriller, in only the best possible meaning of the adjective. i will say that if you're not familiar with what it's like to live with or know someone with mental health issues, it will be extremely difficult to empathize with the lead. she is a deeply imperfect protagonist and to care about what's going on, you have to care about her. i mean, it's hard to care about her; she's a pathological liar with boundary issues. but it's interesting, and engaging, and her own story is wrapped up in the resolution of the film. and that feels good.
