Doc Savage is a square-jawed hero. He's faultless without a hint of ego or self-importance. He treats every one of his "Amazing Five" cohorts with total respect and every one he interacts with with dignity. I don't know what kind of super powers he actually possesses but he's made out to be perfect.

He has resources, brains, good looks and amazing strength. He's got custom vehicles, a helicopter, gadgets and a secret lair. So he's basically Batman without the emotional baggage.

This is camp without a hint of self-awareness. When you see a twinkle in Doc's eye, it's not to joke about how ridiculously over done the character of Doc Savage is, it's actually to emphasize his sincere goodness and pureness of heart.

But this movie is dogged by uneven pacing, rough editing and poor special effects (even for the 1970s). It's an adventure flick that gets pretty dull at times. Still, it was fun to watch another relic of the 1970's.
