A great film noir, interesting characters and a good mystery plot.

At the beginning of the film we already know that something bad has happened. The story is told through the narration of one of the main characters, while he is having flashbacks of what leaded to some tragic events. Walter Neff is an insurance salesman that falls in love with a married woman called Phyllis Dietrichson. She completely blinded him with promisses and told him that she had an unhappy marriage and she just wanted to be happy with him. Then she made up a plan for them can be together, they just had to make the husband sign some life insurance papers and do a scheme to kill him later. A story of greed and betrayal about a man who was deceived because he wanted to be loved and happy. Overall, great story, great direction, great performances and great cinematography, all together turned it into a fantastic film. Double Indemnity is definitely one of the best film-noir ever!

Absolute crackerjack of a film, from the smoldering chemistry of the leads in the first twenty minutes to the tightening noose in the film's denouement. MacMurray has a knack for overusing terms of endearment like "baby" (see also, "buddy boy" in The Apartment) but even anachronisms like those can't detract from a marvelous film. One of my favorites.

I enjoyed myself a lot with Double Indemnity. A good balance between crime and mystery. I like the performances too. It’s a little goofy, but I don’t mind it. The love story in these classic movies are always so sudden and intense and I mean, it’s hardly the perfect murder if you close a policy and murder the guy in the exact way that is described in that policy two weeks later… Still, fun movie!

Very well done film noir from the 1940s with great performances by Fred MacMurray, Barbara Stanwyck and Edward G. Robinson along with good photography and direction from Billy Wilder. I've seen this one before but it's been at least 20 years though coincidentally, a scene from this was in a movie I More

Perhaps the single best example of a film noir movie, _Double Indemnity_ (1944), stars Fred MacMurray, Barbara Stanwyck, and Edward G. Robinson. Based on a novel written by James Cain, the screenplay was co-written by Billy Wilder and the amazing Raymond Chandler.

Set in 1938 California, the stor More

It's definitely hard to pin down a personal favourite Wilder film, though I tend towards his earlier masterworks such as 'The Lost Weekend', 'Sunset Boulevard'...and THIS. He was one of the finest at getting straight through the bullshit and to the heart of all things noir (as the immortal Jean-Luc More
