Doctor Sanada treats gangster Matsunaga after he is wounded in a gunfight, and discovers that he is suffering from tuberculosis. Sanada tries to convince Matsunaga to stay for treatment, which would drastically change his lifestyle. They form an uneasy friendship until Matsunaga's old boss Okada returns from prison.

I wasn't crazy about this movie. It was good, and you can definitely get hints of where Kurosawa would be heading. Maybe I just didn't like seeing Mifune as a sick dude wobbling around. I like him scowling and intense and yelling and stuff. I did like seeing a colorful role for Shimura to play, a guy who generally takes a backseat to Mifune as Kurosawa's leading man but to that I say...Ikiru. Come on. Ikiru!

• A masterpiece by Akira Kurosawa and also a standout performance by Toshiro Mifune. • Pioneered a narrative style for gangster films, later imitated by many Hong Kong movies, clearly inspired by this one. • The greatness of a director lies in telling a dark story while imparting an uplifting force. • In a sense, Kurosawa may be considered greater than Yasujirō Ozu. •download:https://mypikpak.com/s/VNpJ03gY9HPJhV1pqMTav8wLo1

Takashi Shimura is impressive in this slightly squalid tale of a dipsomaniac doctor ("Sanada") charged with caring for a population housed in a bombed out part of the city. A large stagnant pond amidst their community is as likely to prove a source of toxicity as the pervading Yakuza activities. Tho More
