DUMBO IS AS CUTE AND ADORABLE AS, ONLY TO BE SURPASSED BY BABY YODA.
IT NOT MY FAVOURITE DISNEY THE TRIPPY ELAPHANT SCENE AND THE CUT OFF ENDING MADE SURE OF THAT. BUT IT IS A CLASSIC, I DO ENJOY IT AND SAY WHAT YOU WILL ABOUT IT,
BUT ONE THING YOU HAVE TO AGREE ON IS IT IS FAR FAR BETTER THAN THAT DREADED LIVE ACTION DISNEY REMAKE OF DUMBO BECAUSE THAT
IS WELL JUST GOD AWFUL AND NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE, NO DISNEY MAGIC WHERE THAT ONE IS CONCERNED. JUST DISNEY BEING DISNEY AND WANTING MORE MONEY AND BEING
GREEDY AF.
7/10

I've only seen it once in my life.

This is not my kind of movie; I mean, I think it's enjoyable, but maybe seeing it a second time could be boring. I liked the past movies more.

Fairly dreadful, and the worst of the early classic Disney work. It's barely a feature, clocking in at 64 minutes, and features a story that would have been better off as a short. Or perhaps a story not told at all, because the circus milieu and the abuse heaped on the animals involved isn't a setting or a circumstance that have aged all that well. The standout scene is the psychedelic elephant animation, and I found myself wishing they had worked those ideas into Fantasia and left Dumbo himself on the cutting room floor.

The crows in this film are racist, the black enslaved workers don't even have a face. The song they sing "Song of the Roustabouts" has incredibly disturbing racist lyrics. In addition, the film also sends a completely wrong message about appearance. Dumbo has big ears and is bullied about it, but when it turns out that he can fly with them, he suddenly becomes a star. And what if he couldn't? And that horrible mouse just takes advantage of it. He gets rich by performing Dumbo as some kind of freak show. This is the worst Disney movie ever.

The world was a little different 80 years ago. But some things don't change, the most important thing is to believe in yourself. :)

As a child, I remember replaying in a continuous loop the segment that commences with the clowns and culminates in the exuberant spectacle of the pink elephant parade—the unequivocal zenith within the film and one of the best moments of vintage animation. Regrettably, the remainder of the film does exhibit an obvious decline in animation quality and scale when juxtaposed with Disney's other works from that era. Nevertheless, the film still conveys an enduringly poignant message and astonishingly maintains narrative cohesion. Too bad that the resolution is hastily delivered in the final fifteen minutes.

As an expatriate who hasn't returned home in years, the song with Dumbo’s mom reaching out from behind the bars while the rest of the circus enjoys family warmth out of limit makes me weep every single time. Hi Mom, I’m so sorry."

The plot is simplistic, but like in the previous Snow White, the animation is perhaps ten years ahead of the time, especially considering the low budget.

3 Thoughts After Watching ‘Dumbo’:

1. It’s a classic. It’s iconic. And Dumbo is all kinds of adorable. But, compared to other Disney classics, it sorta stands in their shadows. There’s :asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol:such:asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol: a beautiful message here, but the impact of it is somewhat softened as it’s told with haste.

2. Something I’ve noticed, as I journey through Disney’s earliest animated films, is that story often takes a backseat to the flexing of its animators. Irrelevant scenes go on fairly long. Don’t get me wrong… the animation, the art, is gorgeous. But did Dumbo and Timothy getting drunk serve the story? Not particularly. But it lead to the trippy “Elephants on Parade” sequence.

3. Speaking of “Elephants on Parade,” that was _very_ Heffalumps and Woozles. And just as creepy.

I'd never seen "Dumbo" and for the legendary status its gained, I'm surprised by how sad it is. Dumbo, Mrs. Jumbo, and Timothy Q. Mouse are hassled and teased nearly every moment. Only the tenacity of the Mouse keeps Dumbo and his Mother from just giving up. Even though Dumbo wins in the end, the Mouse is the hero.

The animation is surprisingly simple and lacks detail and there is an incredibly odd five minutes late in the film when both Dumbo and the Mouse get drunk by accident (stupid clowns!) and hallucinate a troop of menacing pink elephants. It's a real "WTF" moment and it temporarily puts a halt to all the tears and teasing that Dumbo has to endure.

“Well I been done seen about everything, when I see an elephant fly!” One of Disney’s most iconic films, Dumbo is a cute little story about a flying elephant. The plot’s fairly simple; a baby circus elephant nicknamed “Dumbo” (do to his big, oversized ears) is ostracized by his fellow elephants, but finds an unlikely friend in a mouse named Timothy. The animation is quite good, with lots of bright colors and fun character designs. However, it gets a little out-of-control at times (such as the Elephants on Parade sequence). And the ending is really rushed, throwing-out a lot of exposition in the last few minutes of the film. Dumbo doesn’t exactly soar to great highs, but it’s entertaining and the character is adorable.

That drinking scene was too long and weird. The rest of the movie was ok.

Psychedelics musics and animation comparing with another animated movies. I thought the sound mixing was notoriously bad in some parts of the movie, just like some unnecessarily long scenes (the drunking scene is one of it), however, the movie still gives the sensation of being hurried. It could develop better the Dumbo's sorrow (even the movie being sad like it already is).
