Although it’s as oddball and zany as The Pirates!, Early Man manages to find a laugh around every corner of the Bronze Age, which at times works in it’s favour yet sometimes running jokes tend to not land as solid as others. However, the humour itself is rather solid, relying on physical / slapstick comedy and extended jokes which fully reach into the bag of British humour. The stop-motion animation is also great (as always) offering something new and fresh to see on screen. Aardman really is under appreciated though.

I like Aardman's movies very much. But in this case I was kinda disappointed. First of all can you imagine a worse cliche than dinosaurs and football? Yeah right... adding some zombies and sharks would be even more boring (maybe next time, Mr. Park?). And worst of all it's so damn predictable. Damn you need just 1 minute diving into film and you already know the whole "story". And what's wrong with MC? It's quite hard to keep your cool and do not punch him in his retarded stupid face.

While some of the jokes herald straight from the stone age, this is still a beautifully animated film from Aardman.

I've liked a decent amount Nick Park's work. I grew up on _Wallace & Grommit_ and _Chicken Run_ and enjoy them even now, but I think that maybe you have to like other things if you want to enjoy _Early Man_, things I personally, don't.

There was such a huge missed opportunity to push a pre-established joke. In one bit, Dug is sneaking into the enemy's royal arena to get some soccer balls for their team's training. The girl, Goona, sees and asks what he's doing. Dug responds, "I need to get some balls." Goona ju More
