_El Ángel_, a dramatisation of the crimes committed by Argentinian thief and serial killer Carlos Eduardo Robledo Pucci the early 1970s, feels like a collection of short stories with all the endings cut off.

I left the cinema feeling robbed myself, for the tale of a beautiful 19-year-old boy's spree has all the trappings of a mad dash into chaos, yet the director chose to deliver a film that was certainly stylish but made only safe choices. Carlos Pucci's lived a wild life, but the film made of it was too tame.

The film was not without its strong points, however. The casting, especially the gorgeous Lorenzo Ferro in the titular role, was impeccable, the recreation of the iconic photos from Pucci's arrest was impressive and the use of period music was flawless, so there is a lot to keep the film from missing the mark completely, just not enough to make it a hit.
