Another one from Alexander Payne that I was missing and I think he can't do no wrong!

I really enjoyed this film about high school but this is not just the average high school film that we are used to. It's very well written, it's funny and has a lot of great characters in it.
Mr. McAllister is just the lovable teacher that every single student loves, he likes to do everything for the well of his students but when it comes to a particular girl, Tracy Flick, that kind of super annoying and super smart girl who knows it all, he just can't help wishing to see her have a little let down in life. When she decided to run for president for the school's student council election that's when things started to went wrong for everyone.

I would never vote for Tracy Flick for president! She is just the most stupid and annoying girl in the world and that's what makes Reese Witherspoon's performance so great! You literally want to slap Tracy in the face! Reese Witherspoon was perfectly picked for the role. Matthew Broderick's performance was also very good and I guess Chris Klein is always good and funny in those kind of roles of the high school sweetheart with less intelligence.

An high school election has never been so unethical and immoral!

Hilarious political satire. It's humor is soo dry and real that it may go over a lot of heads, but it's the stuff of a cult classic. Witherspoon is just perfect in it.

This is pretty great, a smart comedy that lovingly pokes fun at democratic elections and the fatal flaws with it (lowest common denominator thinking being rewarded; popularity > substance; irrational bitterness; the most competent person being required to play dirty, etc.). It really needs to be mentioned how good the filmmaking is here, especially compared to other comedies of its time. Purposeful cinematography and editing, a score that compliments the scenes, interesting visual choices, etc. The writing’s also pretty excellent: it’s consistently funny (both in subtle and obvious ways), the dialogue is sharp, the main characters are all flawed in an interesting way and the story continuously surprised me all the way through. Every actor is perfectly cast and does a great job in their role, this might still be Reese Witherspoon’s best work to date. I honestly think it’s near perfect, the only major flaw being its use of excessive narration as an exposition tool.

8/10

Eu senti raiva do personagem do Matthew Broderik o filme todo.

Totalmente desnecessário. E aqui vemos Reese em sua maior atuação da carreira.

Throughout this film I flipped back and forth between thinking that this was a good film and thinking that there was a better film in there somewhere. In a way it felt like a mix between Heathers and American Beauty, although not nearly dark as either film. It wasn't bad but nothing really resonated with me. I generally dislike Mathew Broderick but I didn't mind his performance here.

'Election' builds relatively slowly though really does become a fun movie by its conclusion. It's most definitely worth a watch.

Matthew Broderick is excellent throughout, as are the likes of Reese Witherspoon and Chris Klein. The films goes to some unexpected places and manages to make it work. And there's a great callback in there too. I will say that I didn't love the internal monologue bits, but they didn't derail the film for me in any major way.
