I LOVE a good historical drama and it's no different here!!
- Elizabeth's ascension to the English throne is, without a doubt, one of the best known historical facts and, for me, this is a film that portrays that time very well (they certainly took some creative liberties, but overall it is what best represents )
- in fact, it is ''necessary'' a certain knowledge about the background of this story, but just to better enjoy everything that the film delivers (since, despite bringing some contextualization, it doesn't deliver all the material to understand some subtle details present in the movie)
- let's talk about TALENT: CATE BLANCHETT delivered everything with this performance... that's because I could see from an innocent Elizabeth, fragile, frightened by the possible consequences of a Protestant taking the throne of population, mostly Catholic, to the appearance of a resolute, powerful queen, furious at possible cases of treachery, and who is not afraid to impose herself on any topic that goes against her belief. Anyway, one of the first performances I saw by Cate that made me fall in love with her.
- the film itself delivers good moments of mystery, A LOT of drama, but it held me a lot, not only for the acting, but also for the cinematography that brings beautiful mediaval backdrops to perfection
- the middle of the movie is a little slow, but go to the end! IT IS WORTH IT
