It seems Steven Seagal has finally accepted that he's no longer the lightning-quick Aikido master he used to be and most of his roles now involve him sauntering along talking tough while holding a gun of some sort. Here, in _End of a Gun_ he manages to throw a couple of fast punches but don't fool yourself into believing this is one of the Steven Seagal "fight" movies. This is just another (of thousands) of tough guy/bad guy movies. Absolutely nothing original about this one
unless you count the closing scene where the chick takes a bullet right to the skull…(which I personally loved seeing happen because (1) it doesn't happen nearly enough in these kinds of "double-crossing femme fatale" movies and (2) she wasn't nearly as hot as she thought she was.)
The synopsis mentions a "mall security guard" but I'm not sure where that played in; if the "security guard" was Seagal, there was never any mention of it (unless I just missed it, which is entirely possible since I was watching this on company time because I was bored at work.) This wasn't nearly as bad as some of his later DTV films, although it seems - as I near the end of my quest to watch every film with Steven Seagal in it - that can be said for a lot of his later films. At this point in my journey, I can basically name the first 5 movies Seagal made as worth watching. After _Under Siege_ they were either very generic, lifeless, and "phoned in"…or they were just flat-out awful. (In its defense, _Under Siege 2: Dark Territory_ was a fun movie with some decent action and great acting by much of the cast; it's just that the storyline was so bizarre and far-fetched it was hard to take it seriously.) I enjoyed Steven Seagal's first few movies so much that, at this point, it actually kind of saddens me that he has stooped to such a level, where he's forced to make his films in foreign countries because he can't get real Hollywood talent to work with him. Such is the price when one starts to believe all the hype about him/herself. Also, I don't know when Seagal decided he was "ghetto" but man I wish the dude would speak English and quit with the gutter slang/ebonics. It's just stupid and doesn't add to his value as a performer…which is already at rock bottom. This wasn't bad to watch ONCE, but believe me when I tell you you won't miss anything if you DON'T watch this. Absolutely nothing original or remotely entertaining about it. Just another run-of-the-mill good guy/bad guy pointless movie with absolutely nothing to offer. I'd recommend giving this one a pass.
