_End of the Century_ is a papier-mâché soccer ball: interesting but eventually empty and without a point. This gay romance introduces a minor plot twist in the second act and some magical realism late in the film but neither of these changes the fact that if this film weren't about two men, it probably wouldn't have been funded.

[Filmin] Barcelona. Boy meets boy. It starts as a regular "brief encounter" story. With more suggestive dialogues than usual. The temporary twist makes the narration surprising. And the themes about relationship, fleeting love or that end of the world that never comes, end up being deeper.

I really love the camera work and all the sceneries in this movie, especially the two roof scenes. This kind of slop yet soothing tempo also suited those shots very well. Dream or reality, hard to tell, but it's fine, just remember this moment, which is perfectly wonderful.
