this film deserves my high score, because I watched the behind the scenes and it was fascinating to me. because I discover that to shoot this film was a real experience for all actors. the actors had to believe that they had been through that. and they succeeded corvencer the audience, the characters in the love triangle are friends in private life, this all make easy the papers. the authors had to go through training to learn to use a gun, and the director constructed the scenarios of war on large scales, all this to make the they feel really within the film and the characters. all this together created a great matched expectations

It's a very old fashioned movie. . Like 1940s and 50s American war propaganda movies. The sentimental score is old fashioned. British actors pretending to be Russians in Russia is old fashioned (Bob Hoskins was comically miscast). The love story is old fashioned. I expected something in the tone of Saving Private Ryan.
Having said that, I understand why it's a beloved movie. It's entertaining. The tense sniping scenes are very well done. They are the highlight of the movie.

Great movie. Ed Harris is amazing in this film, as are the rest of the cast. Well worth the watch.

Terrible film, with unconvincing actor performances and down right stupid story. The sole redeeming factor is that it compares favorably to Pearl Harbor. The film set might be grandiose, but the film is missing entirely the grittiness of the German film named Stalingrad.

If you can get over the accents since this was made with Hollywood stars for Hollywood fans, I think you might enjoy it. The first half of the film is definitely stronger than the second half, but the sniper scenes were pretty good and the score was on point. A few cheesy lines and moments during a horrible era, but Jude Law and Rachel Weisz will always win me over.
