Simple, beautiful and calm. It's worth watching if you're familiar with the concept.

I didn't hear anything about this movie prior to watching, didn't knew it even existed, so I got it with no expectations.

It's a sweet sci fi romance movies that reminded me of Gataca and Equilibrium in some aspects (Equals isn't an action movie).

I really related to the characters and actually cared for them and wanted them to succeed. Hoult is one of my favorites and both he and Stewart did a great job creating a calm but intense and very intimate and discreet atmosphere.

I recommend for both sci fi lovers and romantics, men or women.

I was not expecting to be so blown away by this movie but HOLY COW I thought it was great!! There doesn't need to be a lot of dialogue to tell such a great story, especially as Nicholas Hoult and Kristen Stewart are so emotive in their expressions and actions. Not only that, but their chemistry was so great that it only created a deeper connection between myself and the characters and soon enough, I was hooked. My one problem with _Equals_ is that it follows a pretty formulaic Romeo and Juliet-type romance and is very reminiscent of the dystopian future YA series I used to read. Not to say that it isn't a bad thing, but it is something that I am very familiar with. However, the ending still had me gripping the edge of my seat. I don't think that I've been _this_ invested in a fictional pairing, or "ship" as the youngins call it, since I stopped reading said YA books, and it was kinda nice to be reminded of what it feels like to ~believe in love~. I won't forget this movie anytime soon!

It's gotten me so much that I'm still felling all that love. It was so intense the connection between the protagonists. This movie will be in my mind for a while.

This was probably Kristen's best role, in my point of view.
Also, this movie teaches such a valuable lesson... What would we be without feelings, if not empty shells?
Beautiful ending, too. The way he held her hand was a million of emotions by itself.
Overall very calm and beautiful.

A familiar futuristic landscape but the romantic slant is interesting. Wasn't sure about the ending but it was an emotional journey getting there.

Take disassociation and make that the norm, then any human emotion becomes as stigmatized as depression.

Interesting movie and not incredibly bad, but there are several scenes/plot points that went by way too quickly. Almost a Romeo & Juliet twist that made the movie a little sour but the ending was interesting and unexpected. Solid acting, and pretty good worldbuilding - can't complain. I'm surprised I never heard of this film until someone else showed it to me randomly.

At the time of this writing, 2.2K votes have given this gem an unexplainably low 65% rating. There is no aspect of this film which could be improved upon. The visual effects, acting, screenplay, music, photography, costumes, and directing are all at their best. While there are many dystopian films with fabulous scenery and costumes, but terrible screenplays or poor acting, this is a clear example of all the elements working together at their best. The story concept is tightly focused—you shouldn't expect a full examination of a future society; this is not Foundation or 2001—but the visual and auditory treatment of this extended short story compare favorably to any scifi epic blockbuster. If you like dystopian fiction, you should see this film. If you like love stories, you must see it as well.

Such a quiet and calm movie, in the best way.
The cinematography adds to that tranquility as well.
The ending was a bit anticlimactic. I think the story could have been a lot better. The visual aspect and the acting was good enough.
It reminded me a lot of the Delirium book series by Lauren Oliver, same thing there with love being a disease.
