A thrilling, tense, and moving story of nationalism vs. humanity where north and south Korean diplomats join forces in an exciting account of a real-life Somali Incident.

Based on the true events of the communal clash of Somalia back in the 90s, this south Korean biography is a solid film put together. When you have a historical story in hand, either you have to be very serious, technical, and accurate or you have to catch the emotional essence with more soulful treatment. Escape from Mogadishu interestingly avoided both pathways and made something different; which is neither technically stunning nor close to the heart; but still effective! The performances of Kim Yoon-Seok, Jo In-Sung, and Koo Kyo-Hwan are of supreme brilliance. They have presented tension, anxiety, and fear through their performances which gives us a clear picture of what might things have been in real. The cinematography is typically symbolic of the Somalia Communal war, is a mix of fast-paced action and intense drama. The emotional scenes, conflict of north and south Koreans, climax chase sequence all contribute to an enticing watch. Recommended.
