Yet another rehash of the first. We're back to the same plot but the roles are reversed, the apes are now the ones being alienated by the humans (how fresh and original). Perfect opening scene, i'll give it that. I like the focus on Zira and Cornelius they're interesting characters. Zira is especially funny and I think she just became my favorite character. The conversations about the lore were the best scenes of the movie, everything else was boring to me. Just like it's predecessor, some of the weirdest most pointless character deaths i've ever seen. How could this continue for two more movies I wonder...

A vast improvement from that piss-poor
beneath one but let's face it you'll
find it hard to do any worse than that,
because that was rock bottom,
so the only way was up.
This was back to the winning formula
of the original but
Vice Versa this
"Time" around.
Not as good as the original but still very entertaining and engaging albeit a little predictable.
Dr Zira stole the hole show and
Hunter definitely carried this installment
to and across the finish line.
This had some of the better acting
Out of all the Installments so far,
This was just a more superior movie compared to number 2 in every single way and honestly
It held my attention from
start to finish.

A very good sequel.

'Escape from the Planet of the Apes' is a clear improvement on (the good) 'Beneath the Planet of the Apes' and isn't that far adrift from the 1968 original. The plot is out there but they make it believable, while the ending is quite something - unexpectedly so!

Neat to see Roddy McDowall return to his role from 'Planet of the Apes', while co-star Kim Hunter continues once again. I like those two characters so enjoyed seeing them become 'the stars' of this third release of the franchise.

Onwards to 'Conquest of the Planet of the Apes'.

How do you continue a series after you’ve obliterated the planet in a nuclear holocaust? Escape From the Planet of the Apes. In this third installment of the series Cornelius and Zira find themselves hurled back in time to 1973 and must find their way in modern American culture. Roddy McDowall and Kim Hunter return to reprise their roles and are joined by Ricardo Montalban. It starts out as a lighthearted comedy, but then takes a dark and foreboding turn. And in typical Apes fashion, the film asks some challenging and thought-provoking questions while telling a compelling story. Escape From the Planet of the Apes delivers yet another powerful sci-fi adventure; though it does take a few liberties with the series mythology in order to do so.

Cinema Paco 1: image:3.25 1, sound: 3. Better than I expected. That way of seeing racism, pacifism. I liked more than the 2
