It was OK, I guess. Not really a lot of story. Clyde was pretty cool. Wish he was in it a bit more.

A bit forgettable, if nothing terrible.

Clint Eastwood is solid enough, while the supporting Geoffrey Lewis, Sondra Locke and Ruth Gordon have a couple of moments. The plot is a little meandering and doesn't hold enough entertainment, even with an orangutan being present throughout 'Every Which Way but Loose'.

I found the pacing to be slower than I would've liked and the characters opposite the lead to be boring, whether it be John Quade & Co. or the pair of police officers. I will say that I actually did enjoy the music used, which is arguably the film's main plus if I'm honest.

I can't say I'm expecting much from 'Any Which Way You Can', the sequel, but I'll give it a chance no doubt.

I suppose that, in its prime, this might have been considered a "good" movie. Problem is, I didn't see it "in its prime" and by today's standards, it just wasn't all that entertaining. I guess I expected more out of Clyde and the rest of the movie but this just had zero personality to it.
We find out that Sondra Locke (never could figure out what Clint saw in her; she's as plain as a mud fence and built like Olive Oyl in the Popeye cartoons) is nothing more than a horny gold-digger who's been playing Philo all along but once that much is determined, we don't see anything more.
It took 2 hours for you tell **that** story?!!! Seriously. There was just very little that I found entertaining about this one, even though it's considered (I guess) a "classic". After this one, I'm not going to waste any time on the sequel; it can't be any better. Eastwood is much much better as a rogue cop who can take out the trash but here, even the famed Clint Eastwood has almost no personality. But that matches the rest of this film.
