This movie was awesome. I feared it wouldn’t hold up, but it was even better than I remember as a child. It’s a Star Wars story but also a mythic story and it pulls no punches. Cindel gets thrown into the fire, but she finds friends and makes her way. I wish they would make more Star Wars stories like this. Not every story has to be about the fate of the entire universe. Sometimes a little girl and an Ewok are enough.

One of the worst things ever committed to film, Ewoks: The Battle for Endor is an atrocity that set the Star Wars franchise back over a decade. Completely trashing everything done in the first Ewok film, Cindel’s family is killed off, leaving her an orphan who’s then taken in by an old hermit; meanwhile a warlord imprisons the Ewoks and chases after Cindel. The plot is just ridiculously stupid, and gets worse and worse as it goes on. The costumes and makeup effects are hideous, and the sets look incredibly cheap. Barely up to cosplay standards, Ewoks: The Battle for Endor is unwatchable garbage.

Both Ewok films are cute and harmless fantasy adventures. Hell they are 2 of the best fantasy adventures of the 80's.
The boy is just annoying though and can't act. Thank god he was killed off in the beginning of the Battle for Endor. Which makes this film better than the first.

They probably thought adding some more action and an evil villain would make this more of a Star Wars movie. Well, it doesn't. It's still a fairy tale. Despite the fact they basically re-created the battle between the Empire and the Ewoks in large parts. And having what could've been a lightsaber fight at the end.
Killing of the whole family and making it all about the little girl was not a wise move as she was the weakest link in the first part. I wonder if there were contractual reasons for that move as they even had a different actor playing the father for what little screentime there was of him. The mother's face is never shown and the brother also has only seconds on screen before he dies. The SFX are again very low-budget.

And just like part one, children don't care for all of that. But I don't think, with all the action and even some violence, it's that good of a children movie. Maybe young adults.

There's nothing I like about it, but it at least betters 'The Ewok Adventure'.

'Ewoks: The Battle for Endor' makes for a boring watch, despite some attempt at action and even a minute amount of heart at the conclusion. Overall, it's not good enough... but there isn't anything I hated or anything, I just won't remember it for all that long after viewing.
