Migration and refugees. A film that, although not current, presents a theme that is not only current, but increases its validity every year. A Bengali boy flees his home with his father, leaving his mother and sisters in Bangladesh, for France with the dream of becoming a humanitarian refugee because of his talent in chess. The film has flaws in the script, because the characters are not well constructed; we do not know them, we do not understand the importance of them in Fahim's life beyond the obvious and we do not fully understand what happens to his father during the many months that the film portrays. That is undoubtedly a big mistake, because it does not make us empathize with the lives of others. It is a beautiful story based on a real case, which makes it sentimental. I recommend that you see it especially if you were part of the Queen's Gambit boom.
