I really enjoyed this movie. Easy to watch, lots of in twined fantasies. Kept me guessing, but all is explained at the end. Good movie to pass the time. :thumbsup_tone1::thumbsup_tone1:

don't know what to say about this movie really. The first half was amazing and the second half was the worst I've seen in my life

@damarikomu ... Hey, in general i am agree with you, but not with the word "_amazing_"! yes the first half of the film was promising more, nothing else but at the end it was disappointing! meh :thumbsdown_tone1:

If you know the 70s TV series and its darker 90s remake, this is a great nod to both of them.

I recall Michael Peña's face, but when I see the protagonist female I just think "wasnt she in some terrible horror movie before?" Now she's in 2.

This movie is exactly what you expect, however there was a lot of depth and development to the fantasies. Some moments I did feel touched. I do want to note that when they added the pornographic video on Facebook it was actually shared privately so no one would have been able to watch it.

It's best to go into _Fantasy Island_ with low expectations, and that's the purpose of this review.

Seriously, I haven't seen a worse story since... well, my last review probably, but compared to how long it takes me to write these and how long I hope they had to write their movie, one of us should be ashamed and its not me.

Watching the film, I literally told myself it might've been better to let the actors ad lib the whole time. I'm not alone either, because during the entire movie Michael Pena looks like his fantasy is to have a career where he doesn't have to make this film.

At least Lucy O Hale No tries hard, yet those not-so-fragile acting shoulders she used to give _Truth or Dare_ a boost out of mediocrity were not strong enough to carry this shit ton of unfulfilled dreams.

Still, I'll give the film some credit for the poster art and for including the line "the plane, the plane" from the old TV series, but that's where my largesse runs dry.

“Fantasies rarely play out as you would expect.” Blumhouse reimagines the '70s television series Fantasy Island as a horror-thriller. When a group of people are brought to Fantasy Island to live out their personal fantasies, the fantasies soon take a dark turn (in a monkey’s pawn type fashion) that leads the guests to suspect that there’s more to the island then they’ve been lead to believe. Starring Michael Pena, Maggie Q, Lucy Hale, and Portia Doubleday, the film has a solid cast, and the writers work in some fun call-backs to the television show. Still, the plot is pretty thin and a little convoluted at times. Yet the chases and fight scenes are exciting, and the mystery of the island is intriguing. It has its weaknesses, but overall Fantasy Island is an entertaining adventure film.

I know that it is only February but I think I've already seen my worst movie of the year ,I only gave it one heart because none isn't a option.

@ken555 Thank you! I thought from the trailer that it would be awful. Only storyline that would have been proper for the big screen was his Rourk's (sp) battle with Lucifer. But three different storylines involving a fantasy... that's not big screen material. Why waste the money on this?

Starts off great, then exponentially goes downhill at the halfway point. The ending's decent but predictable, though I will admit the
photo of Patrick and his dad, and that Brax would sacrifice a more normal life for his brother
made me smile. It definitely could have been interesting to have seen there have been a more dark ending.

All in all, entertainment worthy at the very least. The concept was definitely quite original, and I don't regret the past 2 hours seeing this movie - but I know I won't be rewatching it any time soon.

The first half looked like a mashup of different horror movie themes, but then they lost their way and ended up in a mess of useless storylines in a shark trash movie. I first thought this could be a perfect 4, but I give it a 3 because I'm feeling generous today! (and some actors are real actors who just ended up in the wrong movie).... or no, a 2... I may be overthinking it... Damn, it's a 1... Sorry...

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie, even though the two big reveals were both rather obvious from the get go. I won’t be rushing back to watch it a second time but I also wouldn’t object to a sequel (or even a prequel) to learn more about the island and its mysteries.
