Well, I guess this is made more for the ones who know the game and therefore the story. I was completely lost, you probably could watch it standalone but I never got into it. It felt more like watching someone play a game. Considering it is 15 years old it still looks good but they sure wanted to make a point of how well they could animate hair. Those huge swords looked a bit hilarious but, hey, it's fantasy so it is what it is. I can imagine why people who like the game do also like this movie.

Do yourselves the favour of getting the long version and undubbed - "dilly dally shilly shally" just completely ruins everything. It still makes little sense to people who have never played the game, but we who did any number of times deserve the long edition. Apart from that, best animated movie Square ever did - XV was pretty but lacked plot, and that is where Advent Children excels.

WELL THERE ARE NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE HOW SUPER SUPER SPECIAL THIS UNPRECEDENTED MOVIE IS, IT IS ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL IN EVERY WAY AND MORE. I'VE WAITED SINCE 1997 TO SEE THESE CHARACTERS BROUGHT TO LIFE AS THEY SO RIGHTFULLY DESERVE. AND NOW IN 2020 AFTER WAITING 23YEARS HAVE JUST FINISHED
