Although I can appreciate a film being authentic to it’s culture, that’s about all ‘Ohana has going for it.

This is basically "Goonies 2021". A perfectly enjoyable family movie.

Short Round/Data was even in this. :)

How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!

This could have been Goonies 2021 but then needed to bring some family drama and lacked budget to make real skeletons

Honestly, if they would have taken the older brother out of this one I would have enjoyed it a lot better. The guy wasn't a great actor which only served to make a toxic masculinity-style role even more annoying. I'm also not sure why the main character was given a "tough NYC attitude" after the move and why they didn't opt to remove it completely when they realized the actress couldn't do it well and it just came off looking really stupid and insulting. The friends were the best part of this one. The goofy younger boy and the intelligent older girl who held on to traditions, really made the film enjoyable. Well, them and the gorgeous scenery. I am sure kids will love it, but most adults will remember Goonies and compare the two, even if they're trying not to. It felt like an homage to that film, but it just lacked the pop of that one.
