The scariest part of this movie was when that woman said "Everything's better swimming in ketchup."

First week of January type of bad, the kind of film that could potentially become a cult classic due to moments of unintentional camp merit (though I kinda doubt that because of how excruciatingly boring the rest of it is). The writing is some of the dumbest, convoluted nonsense I've seen in a while. The horror elements are also very tame, it's just so afraid to push any button. I get that you can't go too hard with a baby movie, but there are individual sequences in non-horror properties like _Indiana Jones_ and _Harry Potter_ that are more likely to scare a kid (or man child g4m3rs for that matter, I'm not entirely sure who this was made for). The technical aspects, in particular the editing, feel mostly unprofessional. Even Josh Hutcherson, who by all accounts should be the main bright spot in this movie, stands no chance with the given direction and dialogue.

1/10

@jordyep I agree with some of what you have say, mostly that it's not scary at all (enough that I'm going to make my mom watch it with me). But it was made primarily for fans of the games, and as a fan of the games, I LOVED it.

I know the lore so I was excited for the movie.
I've been waiting for this movie for a few years now!
Sadly enough, it is disappointing.

To start with something positive... The animatronics look incredible!
The character models of Freddy, Chica, Bonnie and Foxy look absolutely AMAZING. They are SPOT ON!
But the script, the dialogue, the acting are just mediocre.
The movie isn't scary and it all wasn't as dark as I hoped it would be.

It could have been so much better!
And after YEARS of working on this movie it's sad to see that this is the outcome...

@sopherian I just saw the first kill and the P-13 really hampers this movie.

Could have been a tad scarier. Maybe the end could have been made slower. Other than that, it was surprisingly good. Also had a good laugh at the well-deserved MatPat cameo.

This story could have worked just as well in the hands of Tim Burton.. instead of Scott Cawthon.

"Five Nights at Freddy's" is a slow-paced horror film that offers a dull story and little to none of the terror that a film of this genre should provide.

The Animatronics were beautiful, but that's it. For a film almost a decade in the making, it disappoints. It has more plot holes than Swiss cheese.

Of course fans of the game will love this film. It's very faithful and has a lot of Easter eggs. It's not very scary, except for a few scares.

Anyway, if you are a casual viewer you will not like this film.

Agree to disagree <br /> <br /> Why would it be better than letting the man who created the universe to write the script? A lot of it was for the fans of the games, there are extremely many Easter eggs within the movie that most people will miss. It’s not meant to be a mainstream movie. They never did it for the mainstream audience that’s why the movie is what it is. As someone who has liked the fnaf games since 2014 it did make everything justice. But of course they can’t make a movie about a security guard sitting 90% of the time

As someone who works with kids, everything I know about FNAF is against my own will.

The movie was silly. When it tried to be scary it was laugh at loud funny.

It was both too fast and too slow. Clearly I am not the indended audience - which makes sense.

BUT. Matthew Lillard. :clap_tone1::clap_tone1::clap_tone1::clap_tone1: He is so underrated. What a brilliant actor. Love him.

If you're more of a FNAF player, this is much oriented to you, rather than coming in as a movie only person. It's alright, tries it's best to stick to the source material. But it has it's own his hits and misses, and oof moments. Could've been better,
more scarier
but it's also not bad. Somewhere in the middle.

My 12 year old son and his buddies liked it. Not too scary but scary enough to make them feel badass for watching a horror movie. I liked the robot animals. They were cute and kudus for being successful making their simplistic faces expressive. The beginning was a little slow and I slept through part of it (my fault for being a lil hungover) but the parts I did see were pretty good. Definitely over average for a kid friendly scary movie.

As someone who hates horror movies and hasn't played the game, this was a ton of fun.
The bunny surviving in the end kinda ruined the sense of closure. But I suppose they have to set up a sequel.
A little more fun for fans of the series, if you're not a fan it won't be much more than just an average tame horror movie.
