I'm not sure why Jacqueline Wilson felt the need to write a sequel to the classic story. If this film is anything to go by, there was no need at all. It's not awful, but it's not particularly good, either.

Ultimately, what it lacks in comedy and childlike wonder, it does make up for in interesting takeaways.
