Most of the main cast returns, but barely give us any new sides or characteristics to enjoy.

There's a minor saving grace to the environmental issues brought up in the movie. The script handles these contemporary issues in a simple, but effective way and children Will likely learn a lot from watching the film.

The climactic freeing sequence and its aftermath are partly a rehash from the first film, partly a ridiculous attempt at creating something bigger.

:frowning2:

While **Jason James Richter** had his fair share of good moments in the first film, here he seems to have forgotten how to act. He's stiff and unnatural most of the time.

The forced half-brother storyline adds nothing else to the story than an unnecessary irritation every time Jesse and Elvis share the screen together.

**Francis Capra** does nothing to make Elvis more likable as a character. His performance is all over the place, and mostly just plain annoying.

The brief screen time is filled with seemingly endless summer and nature shots, like pulled from travel commercials or nature films.

Nadine never gets the screentime she deserves to actually feel like someone we should care about. The supposed love between her and Jesse feels forced and underdeveloped.

We once again meet boring villains, whose only motive to ruin the day for the orcas is to make a profit. This time around they are even less interesting than Dial in the first film.

A soundtrack with songs **Michael Jackson** sounds like a winner, but since none of the songs heard in the film are good or memorable, the soundtrack never lifts the film.

Overall, a very underwhelming sequel with little reason to exist other than to please those who like to see actors fool around with robotic orcas.

:face_vomiting:

The fact that the single greatest star of the first film, **Keiko** the Orca, is entirely replaced by a lifelike robot lookalike, that lacks any of the emotional and natural acting of a real orca, removes the beautiful connection between boy and orca from the first film.
