Watched this with friends on Friday the 13th (as one should do).
Fairly mindless fun, and definitely the most enjoyable of the first three films so far. Only major issue I had was the long recap of part 2 at the start is a weak start to the film. Has some fairly iconic kills and of course the mask was an important addition to the series.

Friday the 13th Part 3 in 3D attempts to deliver a new dimension of terror. Jason continues to clean up Crystal Lake, this time by taking out a group of teenagers vacationing at a lake house. The story is complete garbage and doesn't make any sense. And the acting is atrociously bad, but not as bad as the cheesy 3D effects (which are incredibly obvious and distracting). However, Jason receives his iconic look in this film, finally donning his trademark hockey mask and arming himself with a machete. A poorly made horror film, Friday the 13th Part 3 fails to live up to its predecessors.

This film deserves most of its credit due being the one responsible for giving us the iconic look of Jason, what a great idea. Congrats to whoever had this insight, made him the most famous and recognizable horror icon in pop culture. I liked the kills and the variation from one to another. Other than that, the movie is just bad. The daylight scenes are really boring and the dialog lines are questionable. The pacing is kinda slow. This movie has its charming and deserves to be watched, I just liked the previous ones more. Also, don't go inside that shed, it's a death sentence.

Not only that, you have actors pointing out objects to the screen for no particular reason other than trying to accomplish several 3D effects to sell more tickets at the time I believe, or they were trying to bring something new to the genre which did not really work. I don't know. It's bad and annoying but it does provoke some laughs.

The soundtrack is amazing! I never would have thought in this choice of music for a horror movie, but I liked, so funky.

Dude the soundtrack in this movie is some funky sh*t!

Not a good movie by any means, but an absolute blast. It's so hilarious and kinda embarrassing of how they used 3D in the movie. The amount of times the actors awkwardly put things up close to the camera for along period of time. Then again I did watch this in 2D.

After giving it some thought, it's strange to think that Jason gets his hockey mask from a Seth Rogen type of character.

Continued Crystal Lake bloodletting, now with 100% more hockey mask. Characterization has improved from the pitiful showing in Part 2, but that's close to the textbook definition of a backhanded compliment. We still endure some painfully awkward social interactions and idiotic decisions from the cast, and linger too long in their dry, boring daylight scenes. The series has moved past the camp counselor-as-victim model, though it doesn't seem to make much of a difference: these generic teenagers don't behave much differently.

Jason continues to be omnipresent, basically signifying a transition point between every scene. Time to move our perspective into the bedroom? Well, let's just cram a shadowy figure or heavy work boot into the end of the preceding shot. Don't forget the trademarked stalking/heavy breathing melody. His problems with closing the deal also persist: the guy is downright psychic for the first seven or eight kills, but when the number of survivors drops to one or two, all of a sudden he can't get out of his own way.

Sloppy and poorly made, like many of the era's horror movies, but also oddly charming for many of the same reasons.

Two and a half movies in we finally get our iconic Jason villain, hockey mask and all. I thought the some of 3d effects were interesting, others like just having a kid hold a bat towards the screen were pointless. It was probably a gimmick to sell more tickets. Kinda like today. Anyway not quite as good as the first two but still Jason is a killing machine. He's just got to work on getting that last one.

Entertaining if rather shallow ride - the best part is arguably the closing act with Jason vs
Chris
. The first two at least had some semblance of a plot and the dialogue was better; Part III feels a rather lazy entry with also a step down in acting calibre among the cast. As others have said, though, it has an enjoyably funky and very 80s opening / closing theme.

IF you happen to stumble upon and watch the 3-D version, without 3-D its soooo bad. You see wires attached to some of the kills, strings in some cases, but other than that this was a decent Friday. I think the Jason silhouette behind/in front of the shower curtain cover is awesome. And this one gave us the iconic hockey mask but robbed us of seeing silly ass Shelly get killed and how Jason got the mask from him.

now this one was decent, definitely better than the first two in some way but that score was terrible in some scenes like you can clearly do better and im kinda shocked that no one closed that camp already, im gonna watch the 4th movie and hopefully that camp will be closed or something lol (they better!!). she was actually better and smart and knew how to attack and change the situation into her favor, enjoy her character tbh.

The birth of hockey mask Jason thanks to the biggest doofus in horror SHELLY. I actually was able to screen this in 3D and the fun is completely ramped up. Even funnier to think that while they were adding more of a fun tone they were toying with the idea of making Jason a rapist, fortunately (or unfortunately?) that is left to your imagination. Chris kicks Jason’s ass for so much of the last act that it totally seems like she should return in the “Laurie Strode” role if they ever work these rights issues out

"Is that all you're gonna do this weekend? Smoke dope?"

I always remember this one as the one were Jason finalizes his look and with the annoying Shelly. Damn, he is such a twat.

Anyway loads of 3D gags, popcorn, Jo-jo's, juggling, really some "eye-popping" stuff. Jason goes on another murder spree, we get some weird flashback scene of final girl Chris and Jason which still doesn't make any sense to me. We get a Godzilla cameo in a fangoria magazine, a Savini Tribute loads of kills, stoners, biker gang, slapstick, a final chase and a jump scare and a lot of fun.

Friday the 13th Part III might not be the best sequel but it will never fail to entertain me.

This one is slower paced, but still is a classic in it's own right.
