The remake gave the movie more justice than the original did.

Still a fun 80s classic vampire flick. So many things remind me of the Hammer vampire films!

Always a fan of Roddy McDowall!

The premise of Fright Night is awesome: what would happen if a high school student that loves scary movies has a vampire move in next door? I'm very happy that it didn't take itself too seriously.
I got a real laugh when Charley was relieved that he would be safe because vampires have to be invited in. The very next scene, his mother calls him down to meet with the new vampire neighbor.
The effects are great. I've really started to appreciate the practical special effects from the time period.

I don't think the ending is as strong as the setup. I also wasn't sure what the deal with Evil Ed was. He was quite strange.
The only thing I could think is that he was supposed to be an outcast so when he does accept Jerry Dandridge's offer to join him, we'd understand this was someone who is meant to accept him. However, I know that vampires in stories have a lot of charm so we didn't need that over the top choice of the portrayal of Evil Ed.
Either way, I enjoyed my watch quite a bit.

This was a childhood favorite. Rewatching today, I still very much enjoyed it. They don’t make horror films like they did in the 80’s. Miss those old school special effects, music, and all around fun.

Wasn’t impressed watching it as a kid and still overrated today. I fell asleep watching it. The Lost Boys it certainly isn’t. 5/10.

Fun movie, I watched the remake a bunch of times and loved it, I wonder if that holds up on a rewatch.

Not sure if I'll rewatch this one a lot, but I do like the '80s vibe including the Fright Night theme.

"Welcome to... Fright... Night! For real."

Nothing more than a fun 80's horror movie with great make-up, but of course it being a vampire movie, it had its elements of Hornyness.

Also, Chris Sarandon kind of looks like he could be related to Mark Ruffalo.

One of the 80's classics which underperformed Lost Boys at the Box Office, but I prefer. The take off with horror hosts with Roddy McDowell really helps make this movie fun and entertaining from start to end.

Great 80's vampire satire, sort of like An American Werewolf in London. It's all here, sexy, music, funny and scary as well. The make up is done exceptionally well, remember no CGI back then and the mood of the movie is right along there with other classic vampire movies, but humorous as well. Cuddle up with your date or mate, enjoy some popcorn and enjoy the next 107 minutes. I still wonder what Billy was, some king of modern ghoul?

The cult horror classic Fright Night delivers a clever and terrifying vampire thriller. The story follows high school student Charlie Brewster as he turns to his favorite late night horror television host, Peter Vincent, when he suspects that a vampire has moved into his neighborhood. Chris Sarandon, Roddy McDowall, and Amanda Bearse lead the cast and deliver solid performances; especially McDowall, who has a charisma and energy that adds a lot to the film. Additionally, the effects work is very good, and is still remarkably gory and horrific. Yet there are some weaknesses in the script, and other underdeveloped aspects to the film. Fright Night epitomized ‘80s horror, and contemporized the vampire genre. “Welcome to Fright Night...for real.”

Soo much fun. A twist on Rear Window with some classic vampire hijinks. This is the kind of adventure I always wished I could get into as a youngster. It's great late night viewing.
