Stéphane Lissner, director of the Paris Opera, entrusts the staging of the opera-ballet Les Indes galantes to the visual artist Clément Cogitore. Based on the experience of his short film Les Indes galantes, the artist updates Jean-Philippe Rameau's baroque masterpiece (1735) by bringing together lyric song and urban dance. The choreography is entrusted to Bintou Dembélé who supervises dancers from krump, popping, voguing or even experimental hip hop. From rehearsals to the Premiere, Philippe Béziat films the meeting of urban dancers with the lyric institution and invites the spectator to share a human and artistic experience.

[Ohlalà!] It shows the rehearsals of the opera-ballet "Indes galantes" (1735) replacing the ballet for street dance forms. It is the decolonization of the Opéra National de Paris, which has never before had black dancers on its stage. The film also reflects a sense of collaborative and emotionally deep artistic community. The classical culture invaded by urban multiculturalism, as the radical expression of humanity.

Like interviewing a jockey about real estate, I'd rather just see him ride the damn horse. In 2019, the opera Bastille staged a performance of the 1735 opera Indes Galantes featuring many street dancers in the performance. This is a documentary of the creation of that show. I loved the mixing of the classical music world and that of the urban street scene. I loved watching the rehearsals and the singing and the dancing. What I loved less was how the director decided to focus the film on the definition of art that each participant was forced to come up with on the spot.
