Excellent manga adaptation and more faithful to source material than I expected. Visuals are brilliant, and the action is quite good. Recommended for fans.newcomers will enjoy but not so much since it doesn't explain much, and there's a lot of chapters before this mission.

@danzoc Where do you recommend to start then?<br /> I watched it without knowing what it was all about. I just gave in (or gave up) on the story and really enjoyed the action and gore sequences.

@krishnabob you can watch the live action movies or the anime TV series. The anime TV series was very faithful for 13 episodes or so, and then changed everything up for an abrupt ending. Neither covers every step of the saga, and there's still a huge gap between their ending and this Gantz:O Osaka mission, the only way to see every step the author intended to follow is by reading the manga! It's a great read, I recommend it!

The script exposes a short but well-developed story, a rare virtue in manga adaptations. The graphics are spectacular

Very little history in this adaptation. But it doesn't do the movie a disservice and thus opens up to a wider audience. I didn't expect much since i watched the series, which was fantastic, so i was greatly rewarded here. I'm have to concur with others, the CGI was impressive. I couldn't tell if it was a real set with real props and CGI characters or CGI overlay of actors with a CGI background or all real with CGI faces. All I know is I had fun.

A completely over-the-top, gory, and action-packed movie. While the plot of this movie is not the strongest part of this movie, the action in this movie is so fun to watch.

"Gantz:O" looks amazing. I have no idea if it's Anime or a Manga or a cartoon or something created by talented aliens but this is eye candy. The story, if there is one, is non-existent. But it doesn't matter because the monsters are unlike anything I've personally ever seen. The characters are thin and annoying but beautiful to incredible (ahem!) proportions. The weapons are inventive and the action is non-stop. The ending is sappy and assumes that you care one iota about what happens to the characters. I didn't. Now bring on more monsters.

@whitsbrain This is a faithful adaptation of a late story arc in a manga series, which explains a lot of your negative points. Yes, you would care more about everything happening here if you had followed the manga up to this point. But this kind of close adaptation is more oriented to long time fans, even though it's still enjoyable.<br /> The manga is nothing short of incredible, tbh.

This is the Battle Royale type movie I never knew I wanted. It has really trippy creatures in it and the teams have to keep killing them for survival, and if I am being honest, I am considering picking up the manga so I can know about this world! Why is this on my Halloween list? There are monsters, and they are terrifying.

I used to read the manga back in the day but stopped when it got too repetitive. This is the problem this movie has as well. There is a good story back there somewhere, but it gets bogged down by the repetitive action sequences. The movie looks and sounds great, but could actually have been a bit shorter to keep my interest throughout.

In any case....fans of the manga will have a lot to enjoy with this one. For the rest, I suggest you read yourself up on Gantz before watching. It certainly isn't for everyone...
