A touching post-WWII story about children, parents, war, friendship and family. Probably the best movie in recent memory, and certainly one of the most touching movies ever. You should watch it. P.S. Reading "Night on the Galactic Railroad" ("Ginga Tetsudou no Yoru") before will intensify the experience even more.
