This is a story of body dysphoria. It's uncomfortable, it's painful, and it's hard to watch. And it should be. Dysphoria is uncomfortable, it's painful and it is hard to live through. So it'd definitely be concerning if the movie was anything but.

Lara is not, by a long shot, a representation of every single trans person out there. She is one person, and we get to see how she experiences life through her eyes. We get to see the main struggle she is going through. And it's a real struggle.

Even if it's not a perfect portrayal of everything being trans is, it's a portrayal of real experiences, and these experiences should not be dismissed. This movie seems to be a snippet of her life, and, as such, there's no real plot - it is more a movie made to show a feeling, a problem, and, in that, it succeeds.

This movie was made by consulting the trans woman whose experience it is supposed to portray. I believe it shows an experience that is true for many trans people. It's certainly true for me.

That, I think, makes the movie valid.

This movie made me feel Lara's pain. Still, my pain is nothing compared to what people in transition have to go through. Maybe one day there will be more awareness about this...

Amazing performance by Victor Polster
