So well made that I didn't like it. _Give Me Liberty_ is a frenetic film about frantic, stressful situations edited by a juiced up monkey in a room with a splicer who doesn't get it right in a million years. See this film and you'll leave so wound up that the tension hurts. Sadly, here there is pain but no gain because the film doesn't give you anything but a hard time.

I was shocked at just how profound this movie is. The movie is set over the course of a few hours in Milwaukee. The male lead is someone that obviously has a big heart and is struggling to move forward in his life despite being pulled backwards by cultural and familial expectations. And that is where the movie really shines - it navigates family, culture, race and economic class struggles while not beating you over the head with any of the themes like other movies (Crash comes to mind). ‘Give Me Liberty’ could have been a really powerful film, but due to many lengthy scenes that drain it sadly fails. The cast gives their all, and I hope to see these faces again - I just wish the filmmakers sat in the edit suite a little longer.

This movie is absolutely hilarious, completely crazy and incredibly touching. If you're a Hollywood/Oscar aficionado, don't bother - this movie is not for you.
