Utterly unbelievable situation. The journalists did what they do, documenting current events and interviewing those involved where possible. It's the same around the world. But the unfathomable is the lack of response from German polizei. And only one person in the entire documentary was willing to call them out on it!
Surprise 2: Europeans claim America is gun-happy. Yet no one on the streets of Germany even glanced at gun-toting Rösner as they walked past him on the sidewalk! In America, people would react.
Surprise 3: The anchorman at the end called it, "the biggest hostage crisis in Germany." Did he (in 1988) forget Munich, which happened just 16 years before?
Oh wait! Now it makes sense. The Israelis had to come in and handle Munich, didn't they? Germany had no law enforcement in 1976 or 1988.
And the buffoons in this episode killed the hostage and left the perpetrators alive.
Typical of law enforcement. Especially foul
to release the killer of two innocents, and keep the jerk who hadn't shot anyone in prison.
