No idea why IGN gave this a 4/10, but it quickly continues the first episode. While it isn't as action based as the first one, there's more of an ideological battle that takes place in this one. Moroever, I can see how people don't like this episode or the whole trilogy. Most godzilla fans are looking forward into the rampage and building busting. This series isn't, and most certainly, this episode isnt.

If you're more interested into the moral of the story and the antagonistic ideas of the lord of this show, you'll definitely like it. But if you were more into the battle and the craziness of the first episode, I'm afraid you don't like this either

@hadeschaosbleeds I'm fucking agree with you.

This episode for me, a godzilla fan of decades, was awesomeness.

And the final minutes of mention of the great Godzilla's rival. Hohoho. My mind exploded. XD

Resuming in the immediate aftermath of the battle from the first movie, CotEtB expands further on the lore of this world, introducing the
remnants of the MechaGodzilla City and an evolved race of humans
.

With Haruo and his team looking for newer means to fight and defeat Godzilla, they sign what is effectively a deal with the devil. We see Haruo's character developing quite a bit in this movie as he has to make some hard choices, couple of which do not end well.

Similar to the first part, this movie too flirts with speculative sci-fi, delving into questions of human evolution aided by Science vs evolution taking place naturally. However, much like the first movie, this installment too does not commit itself to deeper discussion, leaving it up to the viewers to make their own mind.

I didn't think it was possible, but "Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle" offers even less Godzilla action than its predecessor, "Planet of the Monsters." At the same time, the story and characters still fail to spark even the slightest interest in me. There are a few promising ideas, such as the nanotechnology surrounding Mechagodzilla. However, the second installment of the trilogy remains largely boring. The animation genre could have offered so much more.

Talking and then, more talking. More characters that emote but have no impact. Godzilla sleeps for almost the entire movie. The 1-star I have given this is for the effort of the animators.

Follow where the 1. left. Everything more great than 1. If to end your enemy you have to kill your humanity, bad business

Cool that it begins right after the last one ended :) I like the movie, it's worth the time.

As dissapointing as the first one was, this one made up for it. The build up really paid off in the end.
