The name definitely says it all in "Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack". This time, the usual kaiju formula has been largely ignored in favor of full escalation. You could say that there are too many characters - both human and monsters. And yet the movie works on several levels. The fact that the plot is utterly stupid is more of a plus point, because this time the light-hearted tone is really appropriate. At the same time, serious themes are also pursued. There are also some strongly staged action sequences, in which only the odd CGI element is slightly distracting. Overall, however, the movie is just a lot of fun, and I think that's the most important factor here.

This movie was amazing in that it totally ignores the entire Godzilla series other than the original "Gojira". I actually like this idea because the previous movies don't have any memorable plot points, anyway. And, outside of possibly 1968's "Destroy All Monsters", there is no other Godzilla flick with as many outstanding monster battles.

There are some interesting shots and much better special effects, especially Big G's atomic breath and the redesigned suit.

With it's dismissal of all previous Godzilla history, the beast is once again nothing but evil. And it's a welcome return to form in what is the best Godzilla movie since the original.

I'm not sure what the deal was with the hump-neck cataract Big-G here, but was one of the worst costume designs in modern era. Not a fan of this suit.
