I have seen a lot of horror movies in my life and i mean a lot. For years I have been waiting for something to fuck me up. I stumbled upon this movie, watched about an hour of it then it's entire tone changed. Think if The Blair Witch Project had a baby with Ju-On. And after that fucking hour, something happened to me. They dragged me in their found footage game and they pulled me in hard. At a particular scene I started sweating a lot and going dizzy. I almost fainted of fear. I had to stop and finish another day. That was my experience with it, I have no idea what happened. I hope if you are looking to get scared you will find that this movie will do if for you just as it did to me.

The first half was lighthearted fun. The second half almost had me shitting myself. So there's that

I should mention that I had pretty low expectations as I'm not typically a fan of found-footage type movies and yet I quickly became very invested in what was going on and although the premise is very simple it still worked extremely well

I still can't get that ladys face out of my head. The eyes and those noises? no sir, no ma'am. Fuck that shit. I don't usually look away when watching horror movies but I genuinely felt like she was staring into my soul bro

First half hour or so of the movie is slow but I quite enjoyed the rest of it. Doesn't resort to cheap jump scares, actually had me feeling a bit creeped out!

Creepy atmosphere, interesting movie but some moments that were supposed to be scary seemed funny to me for some reason..

If you can live with the format and the usual drawn out intro, Gonjiam is a very respectable entry in the found footage genre. While relying a little too heavily on jump scares and tropes in some portions, Gonjiam displays enough great tension and truly unnerving scenes to make it worthy of any horror fans watchlist.

Solid found footage movie with a modern feel and heartracing moments. The actors do a good job conveying the dread that comes with their situation. The beginning is slower paced as the characters are built and Gonjiam is hyped up, but the payoff is worth it. There are a couple of scenes in the climatic section that made me chuckle, but they were outweighed by those that gave me chills/goosebumps and what you chase for in a horror movie. Some say it follows many ff clichés, but if you haven't seen them all or are new to ff, you're in for a treat.

P.S. Watch this movie with headphones and preferably on a laptop or mobile device with a solid display. Also, make sure it's past midnight and you're alone! Really helps create the target atmosphere.

A pretty scary Korean horror movie. It takes a while for things to start happening, but once it does, it never really stops. I think the directing was pretty unique in how some things were shot, so for a found-footage-esque movie, this one was good.

Shouldn't of watched this before going to bed i'll admit when I woke up during the night I turned the lights on. I don't really get scared anymore by horror movies but this one's terrifying. It starts off really slow but as soon as they enter the asylum things get serious. That asylum is creepy as fuck! The story leaves much to be desired and it's not original in the slightest but it sure is effective on the scares and it uses every found footage trick in the book.

Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum is one of the better found footage film out there. I know it isn't a horror sub genre that is held high but I'm always interested if they do something original. In Gonjiam they use face cams which I liked, I liked the tension and they way they let us get familiar with the Asylum, they have a very, at least to me, scary scene with a bone-chilling slurping sound. A very scary naked man and some decent acting.

Even if you aren't into found footage horror this is one of the few worth checking out. The first hour is kind of happy but as soon as you reach the 1 hour mark, shit goes off.

To be honest, it kind of creeped me out and it might be time to watch one episode of The Office before I hit the sack.

Ps. if you want the full experience, watch it alone, in a very dark room with noise canceling headphones on. I dare you!

The first half is really slow but once you get to the other half, that’s where the fun starts. It keeps you captivated and at the edge of your seat. I do feel like some parts that were meant to be jumpscared, ended up being funny in the end. But all in all, there is just a creepy atmosphere the moment they reach the ‘coffin’ room. It left me feeling all ‘ew, take it away from me’ at multiple parts. It reminded me a lot of the Blair Witch Project throughout multiple scenes. Entertaining and creepy. Good movie to watch and put on your list when you want a horror night by yourself or with friends!

Like a bad meal at a good restaurant, you can't help feeling let down and leave not fully sated, still hungry for more.

As the original found footage slut and a lover of Korean cinema, this has been in my watchlist for quite some time, so imagine my excitement when I discovered it on Prime video!

Sadly, this haunted asylum tale feels like a remake of Blair Witch with none of the originality out creepiness. If you're looking for good found footage asylum horror, try the French Night Shot instead.

The scat man ghost really broke the mood but other than that really solid movie

Eerie, creepy, atmospheric - Gonjiam is a well-made horror movie. The premise lends itself well to the found-footage format. The movie drags a bit in the middle and the plot is nothing special, but it was worth the watch.

It’s been done so many times and arguably better in those instances. Not bad, but not really anything new or inventive.

Pretty cool little found footage ghost movie. It's nothing groundbreaking or really original, but it's well done. and there's a handful of creepy moments.

Like many in the genre Gonjam suffers a lot with the build up, however still sets itself above other entries due to being somewhat ambitious in regards to using"found footage". While it doesn't cheap out by just throwing in one or two WTF moments they are a bit too random (in regards to the story) as to really care about them afterwards. If you are like me and don't hate the core of the genre you'll find something to enjoy here.

sorry but this one wasnt scary at all. in general it looked quite promising but i kept waiting to be frightened but except one or two scenes, which were a little bit tense, there was nothing to fear.
