This movie does something really fantastic: the entire movie is essentially dialog between the two leads in a hotel room(s). The highest compliment that I could say about it is that I was captivated by the characters, the acting and the story. Emma Thompson is always fantastic but the male lead was right there with her. Their chemistry was ridiculous.

A few lessons to be learned while young! To see Emma Thompson NOT holding back is amazing!

>"Pleasure is a wonderful thing. It's something we should all have."

Went in expecting raunchy comedy, instead I got a thoughtful and pleasant story about love, sex and self-acceptance. This could've easily been done in a way that would've been stale but it focuses on character work and let's the dialog come through.

Great bit of character work with sublime performances from McCormack and Thompson. Nothing ever felt forced or overstated, just a lovely flowing narrative between two completely different people at entirely different points of their lives. Lessons learned from and by both, with an ending that feels fitting and quietly impactful.

Two of my favourite actors and an intelligent script make this a 6.5 for me. Emma Thompson does complex emotions and witty dialogue as brilliantly always. Daryl Mccormack does depth, vulnerability masked by charm, and emotional connection very well.

The script allows for some exploration of themes like the weight of social expectations, holding yourself back, and accepting the uniqueness of individuals and what they desire.

The type of relationship the main characters they have and the boundaries within that mean the themes dont go deep and that means things can feel rushed on occasion.

Lots of things get explored and some even bigger almost socially taboo themes get fully opened up like the desirability of older women, the ability of younger men to have preferences beyond what's socially accepted, and living in the world being open about who you are.

Some brilliant things in this film and very watchable because of our two charming leads and the interesting script make the time pass quickly.

_Good Luck to You, Leo Grande_ was a really pleasant surprise. The way film dealt with insecurities was captivating and really believable. Both Thompson and McCormack were thriving throughout the movie and their chemistry was awesome. Although the setting did not allow the characters go too deep in their self-realizations, facial expressions and body work did fill the gaps perfectly for me, and revealed so much that words may have not captured. I really do recommend this to anyone who finds it interesting to see the dynamics of two persons of totally different generations and backgrounds trying to work out their communicative trappings and overcome their personal baggage to make the best out of their time.

What a terrific film!

If you had told me the general gist of 'Good Luck to You, Leo Grande' out of context, I'd have predicted a dull and dreary 90 minutes or so were ahead of me. Thankfully, the film itself is a delight. Before watching, I only knew of the poster and thought it was strictly a sex comedy, so was expecting a silly, fast-paced, if forgettable, age gap romcom.

The film is, thankfully, much more than that. Emma Thompson is just brilliant in her role, while Daryl McCormack is superb from beginning to end - cool to see him in a larger role than in (the awesome) 'Peaky Blinders'. It's perfect casting, the two absolutely nail their performances and are a joy to watch onscreen together.

The one location (for the most part) doesn't hamper things, if anything it only adds to events. I was particularly impressed with the dialogue, especially the more comedic moments. There is one line involving Rolf Harris which was, perhaps, a misstep but all in all it's pretty sharp. It has a story to tell and one that I think it portrays very nicely.

This movie is adorable. I'm in my 40s, and if I ever end up ordering an escort, I'd probably show up with a list of stuff I want to do with her too. I mean, we need some kind of a plan.

Emma Thompson and Daryl McCormack had great chemistry. The whole movie was very interesting and engaging. This is remarkable, given that the whole movie is anchored in dialogue between the two, in a hotel room. The character development here is phenomenal. Very talented writing and acting.

Despite the limitations on a main stage and just two actors, this look at a sexuality thwarted by monotony and lack of adventure holds up well thanks to an amusing Emma Thompson and a charming Daryl McCormack. Katy Brand's script is subtle but sometimes poorly develops the characters, pointing out traumas that finally seem too instrumental, especially his. But there is, especially in the first half, a strong connection between the characters.

This movie is underrated it.Even though there two many actors and not many places the chemistry between the main actors and the dialogues makes it worth it from first till the last minute. It makes you thing, laugh, wonder and it creates so many emotions that you can't but love it. 8.3/10

Between seeing good reviews, personally recommended from a friend, and it being advertised all over Hulu, I had to watch! However, I went in without as much as reading the info blurb. Was it what I expected? Not at all. What I got was a really cleverly done romantic comedy (drama?) with a twist. The format is almost in the matter of a theatrical play, divided into acts. The plot is really small and entirely depends on character development of two characters meeting. The budget for this movie had to be tiny, but yet it maximizes the way it handles everything. I could easily see this one squeaking onto many people’s top tens of the year. Was it that good for me? Not necessarily. I wouldn’t recommend it to everyone, but I would recommend.

Rating: 3.5/5 - 8/10 - Would Recommend

Two vulnerable characters bare all - in more ways than one! Both actors are terrific and the script is one that will resonate with many.

Like your Grandma: intelligent and fun to be with though she flags a little at the end.

This rather enjoyable exchange between an older woman and her younger escort starts off strong. The incisive dialog in the first two acts touches on universal themes such as aging, beauty and relationships both intimate and familial. And sex. Lots of sex. Like Twitter sex, where everybody is talking about it but nobody is doing it.

Unfortunately, the 3rd act implodes with inconsequential flourishes that lead us down the tired road of convention we saw coming a mile away.

Still, Emma Thompson is stunning, Daryl McCormack is ferociously handsome and both so deftly deal with the dialog that the film ends up as an equivocal recommend.

I was positively surprised by this movie. Expected it to be an alright laugh but it ended up being rather brilliant. What a lovely story and message. The acting was very good and delicately made. The very last scene sent such s strong message! What an incredible thing for her to do. Finally something sex and body positive!

Theatrical film I would not a given a penny for, but turned out quite a pleasant surprise. Perhaps the characters were not too deep and original, but the plot was quite interesting.

This was beautiful to watch. Emma Thompson really lays it all out on the table and portrays a little bit of all of us. Daryl McCormack totally holds his own opposite Emma and is masterful. Such a positive, happy and enlightening story with a beautifully crafted script. It’s pretty hard to get an incredible film where the location quite literally only changes once, Katy Brand is one truly talented writer.

Fantastic acting from both Thompson and McCormack. The direction of the story was perfect and the conversation between the two characters were so natural and realistic. It brings a great point of view on the lives of both. It has such a great ending the final shot was so powerful!
