I had to see the movie that all the "Trolls behind the keyboard" hate and you know what, they were right. This is not a good movie. I love gangster movies and in the right hands this story could of been decent. They really do glorify mobsters with all the real life clips. The story is a mess, jumping between timelines and not letting us know is very confusing. I was never sure what exactly was going on. There wasn't enough action and the movie drags. The music is so distractingly broish that is just took me out of it instantly anytime a song came on. I feel like some college kid that has a poster of Scarface and Goodfellas on his walls picked the soundtrack. Travolta is trying his best but he is just trying too hard, his Gotti is too much. Go see this and have a good time, it's worth it.

The problem with this movie is not that it glorifies anyone. The Godfather did that and it's a masterpiece. The problem is that this is a terrible movie. Badly written, badly made. You don't understand anything. Nothing is told correctly. You don't understand the people, the situation, nothing. Not one straightforward story is told. Someone going around killing people is not a gangster movie. You have to understand the situation.

Little borng, but John Travolta was good.

The movie does show plenty of real footage.

Frankly, I'm tired of the Hollywood glorification of the Mafia. Why? They're nothing but criminals who kill get other. No better than any gangbanger.

Enough with the mafia movie propaganda.

I can't agree more with you! They are trying to show mafia members like some family loving guys, with moral attributes and aspects... I mean, if we take the godfather trilogy, they are great movies if you look at acting, script, directing...but the propaganda behing all that is obvious - glorifying the mafia!

John Travolta stars as the notorious New York mobster John Gotti, the Teflon Don, in the compelling crime drama Gotti. The film follows the rise of John Gotti from a low level henchman to head of the Gambino Crime Family, along with his ultimate conviction and incarceration in federal prison. Travolta gives a strong performance and has a solid supporting cast that includes Kelly Preston and Stacy Keach. However, the writing is kind of weak. Told in flashback, it’s not always clear when things are occurring or Gotti’s position in the family hierarchy. Still, the storyteller motif, of Gotti telling his story to the audience, works fairly well. And the soundtrack and score are especially good and adds a lot of energy to the film. It comes off as a little bias (highlighting the support that he had on the street), but Gotti provides an interesting look at one of the most powerful crime bosses of New York City.

Despite the bad press the film has received, it is surprisingly watchful. Sure, it drags at times, and more depth was needed, but it's not quite the disaster the critics would have you believe. It's still meh - the film is nowhere near perfect - but it's hardly dragging the barrel.

Another case where a movie is getting ROASTED unfairly. Don't know what exactly people's problems are with this one, but it's not that bad. It's not that great either, unfortunately, but Travolta does a fine job as the infamous mob boss. The main problem is that the movie feels too episodic. It jumps from one random event to another, without much of a connecting tissue. Would've been better if made into a TV series.

Ehi it's Gotti!

Pizza!

Pasta!

Spaghetti!

And other Italian stereotypes.

In all seriousness, this wasn't a complete disaster as people described it, but man it's still really bad. Like the killings scenes and Travolta performance was pretty good in some parts, and that's the only positives.

The make-up looked really fake and can Pitbull stop making songs for movies, especially when it doesn't fit the overall movie. I also like the part when they used stock footage of fireworks for whatever reason. The directing is flat and not dynamic at all.

I had a fun experience watching this intoxicated with me laughing at everything through there was nothing funny about it. I can't say my experience will be the same for people both drunk or sober.
