IMO the best of the Jaws inspired movies.

"Grizzly" is over-the-top. From the conflict between the characters to the surprising amount of bear-induced gore (um...a child get his leg ripped off and shows it!), everything is amped up. Even the overhead shots of the forest are huge.

If you are curious about "Grizzly" and have read reviews, you will no doubt see that it is a blatant ripoff of "Jaws". The evidence is all there for you to see and disbelief for yourself.

There is one little shot that I noticed that might have slipped by others. You know that dolly zoom in "Jaws" when Speilberg moves in on Chief Brody sitting on the beach? Well, late in "Grizzly", just before Don Stober (Andrew Prine) gets his innards squeezed out of him, we see a zoom just like it. I laughed out loud, mostly because I couldn't believe they had stolen yet another idea from "Jaws". And partly because it wasn't nearly as well done.

I am certain that I want to see "Grizzly" again. It's just one of those movies that I can't believe exists and also manages to be so ridiculously enjoyable.

Serviceable attempt at cash in on _Jaws_ success. This time around it's a killer bear terrorizing a state park. A bit slow and none of the characters are likeable but I admit I had a good time. The bear is massive and cute. Although it's rated PG-13, there's some surprisingly violent deaths including a decapitated horse head and a boy's leg. Worth checking out if you're into campy B movies.
