Come on son! Amy Pond, Sarah Connor, Spy Kids Mom, Tina Turner, and Emperor Georgiou, take on the menfolk ala "Shoot Em' Up, and "Smoking Aces" having a baybay. Not meant to be cerebral and over analyzed, but a manifest celebration of feminine badassery. Yes the bad guys were inept, as the only casualty on the female side was clearly the result of a lucky shot, (and a surprising lack of body armor in an otherwise awesomely stocked armory), But, then, even Bruce Lee's opponents surrounded him in a circle and came at him one at a time. Honorable, yes, but madly inefficient.

In any case, this was a fun, entertaining watch, and, Chloe Coleman is a delight as "8 and 3/4" year old Emily, the flashpoint of all this chaos and conflict. Nothing that hasn't been done before, but, still, a nice take on the genre. They could possibly get a sequel out of it if they really wanted to, and, I'd be down for that one also.

@Callum - To paraphrase Dr. Raymond Stantz, "...You never studied"..., Those who are comparing "Gunpowder Milkshake" to the "John Wick" trilogy aren't saying it's a shot for shot comparison, or even a stylistic doppelganger, but, they ARE similar in world building, in that BOTH movies feature an underworld organization, with a hierarchy, rules, and regulations, which if violated, will earn one a visit from one (or in this case several dozen) highly trained, variously skilled, assassins, who will "balance the ledger" with your blood, bowels, and/or a bullet to the dome. What GM did that JW didn't, is to juxtapose the Peckinpah-esque (that's slo-mo, for those in Rio Linda) carnage and bloodletting, with a wry bit of levity, and to break up the somber situations with comedic beats on occasion.

Thus you have bits like the "Rag Doll" sequence, which was IMO hilariously done, yet JUST plausible enough that it could work. (no, stainless steel medical trays won't stop bullets any better than a car door, but that hasn't stopped countless hero's from hiding behind them in EVERY gun driven movie, EVER) But it was FUN, as was the Bowling Alley sequence, or the laundry room escape. In fact, if you look at most of the positive comments, they include the word "FUN".

You see, with what at times feels like the majority of the world being "woke", seemingly pissed off at anyone and everyone not affiliated with their particular "tribe", or insisting that YOU should be equally pissed off, socially stagnated, and intolerant, not to mention the unchecked romper stompering by feral humanoids that has infected cities nationwide like the T-Virus on steroids, sometimes, the remedy (at least for me) is a couple of hours of diversion in the form of some cinematic FUN. There of course is always a place for the cerebral and analytical, but that's not what this movie was going for. With age comes wisdom, and I have wisely learned that just because something does not fit my particular tastes or expectations, doesn't necessarily make it "bad", just not for me.

Watching a movie for the soundtrack is like going to see "Cats" because you're a veterinarian... Just sayin....

I couldn’t finish the first 20 minutes of it. That’s how bad _Gunpowder Milkshake_ is. I feel horribly embarrassed for the people who made it. How did it pull in so many big names? I usually avoid the content that Netflix produces since they’re rarely any good, but I thought this movie might have some promise. Damn, was I wrong. The fact that people will be tricked into thinking this is halfway decent because of all the pretty faces and Netflix ‘feminism’ makes me feel physically ill.

This is just _John Wick_ if you gender swapped it. Movies like _Nobody (2021)_, _Tenet_, are for American men to have some material to masturbate to Americans killing Russians because their dog died. Totally normal male behavior. But _Gunpowder Milkshake_ is for the American ladies, the liberal ‘feminists’ that love the depthless theme _"women great, men bad",_ which is reductive and gets us nowhere but apparently it’s progressive. This one is for you, babes, enjoy!

Literally the line: _"Gender equality. Very progressive. A feminist."_ They legit call the main character a smart, strong and independent woman unironically. Can you go more corny than that? It's a movie where all the women can do no wrong, are intelligent and also super human. You never feel like the main character is in danger cause none of the cartoonish men can even come close to her abilities. Honestly, the men in this film are dumb to a point where it's like the guys from _Home Alone_. Hollywood script writers FINALLY need to learn you can have awesome female character without having to make all of the male characters braindead idiots. Also, they need to stop this trope where skinny women fight and overpower multiple men who are 3 times their own body weight.

There are lots of “jokes” in this movie that are not funny at all but I LOLed at the casting - 47-year-old Lena Headey being the mother of 33-year-old Karen Gillan haha. So funny. Karen Gillan simply doesn't have the presence to pull this role off, I didn't believe she was a badass assassin just because she looks mean. I hope I will never ever have to hear her American accent again, it sound like she’s swallowing the middle of every word. Why hire so many British actors if you’re going to make them use American accents? They sound horrible. American liberal feminists love the intersectional feminist cast - this movie feature blatant racial tokenism with the black woman being angry, and the Asian woman who is a mystical martial-arts expert, of course.

The whole “female empowerment” trope is painfully undeveloped and just thrown in the most shallow, generic way. All style, no substance. Weak story (that's barely a 20 minute short story), some of the most poorly written characters I’ve ever seen, and a bunch of dead-eyed performances from some famous actresses.

Gunpowder Milkshake movie is stylish, beautiful, action-packed, violent, and funny. The action sequence was a mixture of John Wick and Jackie Chan.

Director Navot Papushado and Cinematographer Michael Seresin transform a generic script into a blast. There was a smart use of a camera and lightning. The music, color grading, costumes, makeup, production design, and the whole atmosphere was brilliant.

I loved the library scenario and the classic literature language used for the guns. It reminds me of the John Wick movie.

The script was decent and predictable to some extent but the direction and Cinematography made it more interesting. Also, I can't forget the funny fighting moments. So It's a must-watch movie.

**🦜 BIRDS OF PREY " LITE " : With Only -½- Its Delectably Whacky, Trippy Neon, Psychedelic Charm . . . . . But With -3- Times The MINDLESS { "Dark-Comic Style" } BRUTALITY & GORE 💥**

A -{ BIG }- Screen Micro Review .

I'll readily admit it. I set out to watch 'Black Widow' -{ again 😄 }- , had the film's timings wrong, and ended up watching 'Birds... ooops ...I mean 'Gunpowder Milkshake', ( 'GM' for short ), instead. But no, really, watch the -Official- trailer, and you'll see what I mean ; the similarities, which permeate the ( -Entire- ) movie, are, 'to put it mildly' ...really, really, really... -{ Stark }- . "Mention-of-note" : The utterly -{ ADORABLE 💜 }- pint sized thespian, Chloe Choleman ( "8¾ year old Emily" ) . . she's Twelve in real-life, and is simply a lovely, -Effusive- bundle of utter delight, and of course . . -Talent- .

"Serious-downside" : Simply put, 'not very good timing, at all'. In other words, on the one hand you have the USA being -Utterly- battered by a -Very- Deadly Pandemic . . . { 'no offence' to Covid-19, but right now I'm actually referring to the ( TRULY ) Horrific 'summer spike' in **American - GUN 🔫 - violence }** . . and on the other, you have a -US- ( Gunpowder's 'Country of origin' is listed as 'France, Germany, USA' ) picture that -Altogether- glorifies a -{ "Seemingly Endless" }- spree of 'vividly gratuitous slaughter' . . the likes of which I haven't seen in a -serious- while. Not to mention the rather -glaring- "Birds Of Prey déjà-vu" aspect of exposing an -Actual- , innocent, young 12 ( -13½ in the case of 'Birds Of Prey'- ) year old "babygirl", { and in a "prominent, Starring-Role", at that } to -That- level of Darkness & Violence, albeit thematic. Seriously . . . What kind of message does that send❓.

Summation : "Save some money". Sure, the film has its moments, & is even "Supremely" funny in -Atleast- 2 or 3 places, let's be clear. But in my humble opinion, if you're -Not- 'particularly' crazy about this sub-genre, then 'GM' is, I'm afraid, -{ Not ⛔ }- worth a special trip to the cinema, -Especially- with the 'delta variant' of Covid 19 -Still- wreaking some Serious "Mayhem" in so many, many, many parts of the world. So if you feel like this is a 'must' watch for you, then you should be -Just- fine streaming it on, { say }, Netflix, which, by the way, PRODUCED IT . . 'ANYWAY' . -All- things considered, then, that's going to be an 'Honest-to-goodness' 5.50 Marks Out Of 10.00 from me, because that's -{ REALLY }- . . . as far as I can go .
