It looked like most of the characters in this movie were actually trying to be killed.

The Halloween franchise is back, bring out those sinister piano chords and cheesy synths.
The last one was kinda mediocre, tolerable in some sense, but I don’t remember the acting being as bad as it is here.
There are also some bizarre editing choices, starting right from the opening scene.
It’s got some effective moments, some cool visuals, but it’s still uncreative, messy, dumb, cheesy and mostly incompetent.
I’d file it under: generic Hollywood franchise #32 that is in desperate need of a strong creative impulse.

3.5/10

I felt like I were watching the "Scary Movie" series, where stupid behavior of the characters in horror movies is stigmatized, except that this time it's not even funny but pathetic...

The only horror in this movie was that some of the towns people lived. Michael Myers is like 6' 4" yet they acted like he was the short mental patient in the hospital. The one guy had to open the car door to make sure he wasn't hiding where? The floor board? The young girl and guy at the end go into the house and after shooting a pumpkin in the hallway closet clearing like 2% of the house stop to talk. Everyone constantly yells out their positions when searching the house and stops to play with dead bodies. This whole movie was a flaming piece of garbage.

Are any of the people (not named Michael) in this film NOT idiots? Is anyone who ran up against him NOT incredibly stupid in terms of the decisions made both before AND after running up against him? Because in the movie that I watched, there was a Darwin Award finalist every five minutes or so. And you know how sometimes good acting can save a bad script or vice-versa? Yeah, neither of those things happens here. Not even remotely. Finally, let's not forget that ALL of this is the result of Laurie -- for no reason whatsoever -- abandoning her Big Plan the moment she crossed paths with Michael at the end of the last film. And it's as if everyone in this one saw how stupid THAT was and said, "Hold my beer."

Most fun I had with a Halloween Movie since the Original and Halloween III. I don't get the critics and ratings, I liked it even more than the previous movie. David Gordon Green just knows what Halloween and MM is all about. Great job.

Now that was great, plenty of good action, brutal scenes and casting, especially the guys that played little john and big john that brought the comedy and simple plot to follow like all the Halloween films because It's no different and you already know the story and doesn't need to change also brings a little more about who he is and what he's done to the town and loved it and I wouldn't mind another one.

As good as the gore was... the script was just horrid. Everyone kept reciting the same lines, the characters were one-note and everything about the townspeople was just absurd. Why is everyone up in arms about something that doesn't really concern them from 40 years ago? How they dealt with Michael was also dumb... it's like Judy Geer's character wasn't listening to her mom at all. The 2018 effort was OKish as it dealt with Laurie's trauma but this really had nothing to show for it.

What are you gonna do? Another Halloween entry for the fans, I'll still watch them with tempered expectations. Had some interesting kills they didn't completely censor. Otherwise generally forgettable. I actually sympathized with Michael Myers at certain points within this entry.

[Sitges FF] It assumes the condition as an intermediate film from the beginning, introducing a return to the origins. But it also tries to broaden the evil by expanding it towards the trauma that turns into mass hysteria. Evil has spread, ("It is turning us into monsters") and is part of the community. The Frankenstein myth arises, which may be debatable, but it is a way of psychologizing the incarnation of evil.

The brutality! You have to appreciate it, I get that that’s kind of an acquired taste but I’m surprised at the amount of people put off by the gore. This movie opens things up in an interesting way but it does suffer a bit from stretching things out because we know they have at least one more movie to go. That can be forgiven if they stick the landing but I like the choices made here and their extension of Haddonfield even if some of the things teetered a bit over the top. I also think they did a good job of making the victims as likeable as possible in short periods of time.

Nice visual effects and killings, but that's it. We've seen this over and over again, but now it has some actors from the classic movies. It brings nothing new to the story. I personally hated the ending and the characters choices are out of this reality.
Quoting the movie I Know What You Did Last Summer: "When you leave a man for dead, make sure that he's REALLY dead!". Obviously these characters have never seen it.
At this point, they are better creating some spin off of this franchise rather than dragging this dead body for 5 more sequels.

The story and acting was like a cheesy b-movie. Eventhough some of the kills were okay and funny, this is one of the worst films in the Halloween franchise. 5/10

Ok we get it, evil dies tonight. I had so much fun watching this. Fast paced with edge of the seat suspense, killer soundtrack, absolutely brutal and creative kills, this film knows exactly what it is. Michael Myers is back even more monstrous with his burnt mask and it feels like he's actually the star in this one, which I really love. This film picks up from H18 and also expands the story of the original in very interesting way with some cool callbacks to characters from both the original and H18. If you’re not a fan of slashers, you probably won’t like this. For me it's very entertaining and overall a great slasher film that delivers exactly what the title says.

An insane and non-stop violent ride. That may or may not leave you wanting more. It depends on how many more people you want to see brutally killed in the next one, Halloween Ends.
This one I think even manages to out do Rob Zombie with the kill count. I was frustrated by the very end that someone would be dumb enough to go back in his house.
Still, this was one the best of the Halloween movies despite a somewhat weak ending. That makes it look like Laurie didn’t teach Karen better than that.
It was also disappointing how stupid Tommy Doyle was. He acts like a Michael Myers expert. Yet, he plans on taking him out with a baseball bat.
