I love Jeff Garlin in Curb Your Enthusiasm, one of the funniest comedy series ever. Sadly, this overly quirky film struggled to make me laugh. I can see they were aiming for a sense of the weird but it just fell flat most of the time. Still likeable, but disappointing.

An okay murder mystery movie, with some weird choices, dragged down by a pretty vulgar sense of humour. It kinda reminded me of Angie Tribeca, but without the surreal elements, and running at about a quarter the speed.

I gave this a chance on cast alone. I figured that Jeff Garlin interacting with Steven Weber, Timm Sharp, and Natasha Lyonne would at least be interesting and at its best could be downright hilarious. As it is, though, this feels like Garlin working out a first draft of a script. There are some very solid (and very quirky) scenes, but there are also some odd tangents, as well as difficulty flowing between scenes, which I think could have been smoothed over with a few more revisions and/or minor rewrites. In its current form, it's fine if you enjoy the actors, but it's not going to be that engaging for folks who don't already like these actors.

I love Jeff Garlin. He's a great comedian and he was great on Curb. But, I have to wonder where his mind was while writing this script. The movie is totally flat, lacks an interesting story line, and has no opportunities for even a slight chuckle. Not to mention it's boring enough to make 81 minutes feel like 3 hours. I'm sorry, I really wanted this to be good. And I really want good comedians like Jeff to be successful when they branch out and attempt to make movies. But this one is miserable.

Good watch, might watch again, and can recommend.

I really like Jeff Garlin and Natasha Lyonne, they play really well off of one another, but every other character just seems like a throw away, even Steve Weber and Leah Remini, whom I both generally like as well.
